Admissions Qualifications

An applicant for admission to the freshman class must have satisfactorily completed the eighth grade or its equivalent. To be considered for admission to Saint Ignatius, students must take the Entrance Exam at Saint Ignatius in January of their eighth grade year. The school accepts applicants on the basis of scores on an entrance exam, previous academic performance (grade school pre-admission form) and previous standardized testing, the promise of future development, consideration of Catholic heritage/school, the family's history (if any) with the school, and adherence to the policies of the school. Saint Ignatius College Prep admits students of any gender, race or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities made available at the school.  We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, race or ethnic origin in the administration of our educational policies or policies related to admissions, scholarship opportunities, tuition assistance, athletics and other school-administered programs.

Saint Ignatius follows an admission and enrollment policy of Family Acceptance. This means a preferential acceptance of children of alumni and siblings of students currently or recently enrolled who meet the school's basic academic standard. Family Acceptance is extended to students whose parents have taken the responsibility for furthering the exceptional educational atmosphere at Saint Ignatius. This means that parents have been responsible in dealing with faculty and administration when issues of academics or discipline occur; responsible in paying their tuition in a timely manner; and responsible in making an appropriate pledge annually and fulfilling it. Saint Ignatius reserves the right not to accept or reregister students at any grade level whose parents have not met the responsibilities above.

Applicants may be offered admission for available places at the freshmen, sophomore, and junior grade levels. Transfer students are usually admitted at the beginning of the school year.
