Richard Kehoe -- Varsity Head Coach
Rich Kehoe begins his 23rd season coaching at Saint Ignatius, his 16th as Head Coach. Kehoe was the varsity coach from 1979-1986 and returned to that role for the 2002-03 season. His coaching resume includes assistant jobs at Loyola from 1970-1979, Maine East from 1986-1987, Leo 1987-1994 and with the Wolfpack from 1995-2002. Rich was named IBCA (Illinois Basketball Coaches Association) District 2 Coach of the Year in 2005-2006. Kehoe was also voted Catholic League Coach of the Year in 2007-2008. The Wolfpack have compiled a 141-54 record during his second tenure as Head Coach. This includes two North Section Championships and two York High School Christmas Tournament Championships.
Ken Gryzwa -- Assistant Varsity/Sophomore Coach
A major part of the Wolfpack’s success is the veteran coaching staff. Ken Gryzwa brings 26 years of coaching experience to the program as he begins his 10th year of coaching at Saint Ignatius. Ken’s teams have compiled a 151-36 record and have won league championships at both the freshman and sophomore levels. Coach Kehoe refers to Coach Gryzwa as the backbone of the program as every varsity player has been the product of his expertise. Ken also organizes the 7th and 8th grade tournaments.
Bob Kriz –- Assistant Varsity/Freshman Coach
Bob Kriz is the most veteran of all the coaches in terms of experience at Saint Ignatius. He has coached basketball at all levels in every decade since the 1970’s. Bob runs the Wolfpack Summer Camp for the grammar school and junior high players. Coach Kriz was the varsity baseball coach for nine years. Bob’s organizational skills have been the “nuts and bolts” of the program.
Jim Owens -– Freshman Coach
Coach Owens is an Ignatius grad, class of 1981, who played under Coach Kehoe and Coach Kriz. Jim has been on the boys’ staff since 2002. Previous to that, Jim coached in the girls’ program. Jim has given much time, effort and travel in his multiple scouting assignments during the season. He is also a vital part of the Math Department at Saint Ignatius.
Shaun Gallagher –- Assistant Sophomore Coach
Shaun gives the Wolfpack staff a youthful look. He is an Ignatius grad, class of 2001, and a three-year varsity player for the Wolfpack. Sean was voted the Lawless Award winner as the outstanding senior in the Catholic League. Coach Gallagher did a great job this summer with both the varsity and the sophomores in various leagues and tournaments.
