Pack Defeat Hales and Leo
02/02/2012 - Soph

The Wolfpack held the visiting Spartans of Hales Franciscan to 11 second half points en route to a 50-35 victory last Friday.  Lester Larry led Ignatius with 15 while Aaron Allen added 14. The Wolfpack upped their season record to 13-3 with a 50-35 road win at Leo on Tuesday night. Larry led the team with 11 points.  Allen and Stephen Williams chipped in 10 each as well.

02/01/2012 - Frosh 'A'

The Wolfpack beat Leo last night 68-58.  The Pack led the entire game and withstood a late charge from the Lions.  Mike McGugan led the Pack with 25 points followed by Danny Moore with 15.  Mike Willis toughed his way through an injured elbow and sunk some clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the deal for the Pack.  Willis ended the night with 11 points.

Pack Split a Pair; Now 15-3

The Wolfpack split their two games, defeating Hales 56-43 and losing to Leo 58-54.  Peter Ryckbosch and Marty McClure posted a double-double each, posting 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Sophomore Lester Larry added 11 points in the victory.  On Tuesday night the Wolfpack was led by Ryckbosch with 15 points as Brian Howard added 13.  The Pack move to 15-3 and are still in first place in the Catholic League North.

The Wolfpack lost to the talent-laden Hales Franciscans 44-17 on Saturday.  Teddy Hans led the team in scoring with 5 points.

Hot Shooting Dooms Brooks
01/24/2012 - Varsity

The Wolfpack defeated defending Public League Champion Brooks 74-44.  Saint Ignatius had five players scoring in double figures coupled with a season high 23 assists.  The win moved the Pack to 14-2 and maintained both their area and state rankings. The Wolfpack move into their toughest stretch of the season, playing five games against quality opponents in nine days.

The Wolfpack saw their 8-game winning streak come to an end with a 55-53 road loss to Evanston. Lester Larry led the team with 19 points while Stephen Williams added 13. The Pack are now 11-3 on the season.

Wolfpack Ranked #12 in Chicago Sun-Times

The Wolfpack won both of their games last weekend, boosting their record to 13-2.  Ignatius kept their area ranking at #12 in the Sun-Times and a 3A State Ranking of #5.  Against St. Joseph the Pack came from a 23-11 deficit at the beginning of the second quarter to cut the margin to 7 points at halftime.  Some clutch shooting produced a 33-22 margin in the second half as Brian Howard scored 19 in the 57-53 win. On Sunday afternoon the Wolfpack defeated Public League Red West power Farragut 54-37.  The Pack was led by Brian Howard and Marty McClure who combined for 33 points.  Abdoulie Conteh had a season high 8 rebounds while Jack Crepeau (5 assists) had another solid game.

The Pack outscored visiting St. Joseph 30-13 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters on their way to a 51-45 CCL North victory.  Lester Larry and Brandon Snower each tallied 12 points.  Aaron Allen added 11 as the Wolfpack are 4-1 in CCL play and 11-2 overall.

The Wolfpack beat Nazareth 45-43 last night. Mike McGugan and Nick Gargano had 12 points each and Danny Moore added 11 points.  The Wolfpack are 2-0 in 2012.

The Wolfpack moved to 10-2 on the season with a 60-43 road win at Nazereth Academy. The Pack played solid defensively as a team in the win.

Wolfpack Defeat St. Rita

The Wolfpack continued their winning ways on the road with a hard-fought 52-46 win at St. Rita. The Pack outscored the Mustangs 16-6 in the 3rd quarter as Stephen Williams led all scorers with 15 points.  Lester Larry added 13 as the Wolfpack move to 3-1 in the CCL and 9-2 overall.

The Wolfpack (11-2, 3-1 CCL) had a tough night shooting as they traveled south to take on the Mustangs of St. Rita, falling by a score of 48-42. St. Rita took the lead in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Wolfpack 17-8. A fourth quarter rally cut the deficit to three at 42-39 but the Pack ran out of time against the CCL first place Mustangs.

The Wolfpack defeated the Mustangs of St. Rita 45-42 at home Saturday. Mike McGugan led all scorers with 23 points in the win.

Wolfpack Win Jack Tosh; Ranked 9th

The Wolfpack won the Jack Tosh Christmas Tournament hosted by York with stunning come-from-behind wins against area-ranked Downers Grove South and De La Salle. The Pack advanced to the finals with wins over Wheaton Warrenville South and Riverside Brookfield. Brian Howard and Peter Ryckbosch combined for 38 points in a 56-41 win over WWS and Howard scored a career high 29 points to lead Ignatius over R-B. Ryckbosch and Abdoulie Conteh chipped in 11 each against the Bulldogs.
 
Conteh then went on to hit the game-winning shot against DGS as the Wolfpack went on  21-9 rally paced by Marty McClure’s three point shooting and Ryckbosch 10 fourth quarter points. Howard led the Pack with 17 points and a place in the title game.  Against long time rival De La Salle, the Pack defense kept it close as Howard played Meteor killer with a clutch 3-point basket to send the game into overtime. Jack Crepeau opened the scoring for the Pack as they defeated De La Salle 47-44. Brian Howard was named tournament MVP, scoring 20 in the championship game. Peter Ryckbosch scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds against the talented front line of the Meteors. Marty McClure’s all-around performance and Jack Crepeau’s ball handling were vital to the Wolfpack championship. Abdoulie Conteh gave a consistent effort in all four games.

The Pack made it two championships in two years with a dominant performance at the Wolfpack second annual Christmas Tourney.  In winning all four games, the closest victory margin was 14 points.  In game 1, the Pack rode the scoring of Brandon Snower (15), Milton Drain (12) and Stephen Williams (12) en route to a convincing 60-42 victory over Morton.  In Game 2 later in the day, the Wolfpack ran out to a 31-14 halftime lead in defeating Mt. Carmel 47-30.  Snower led the Pack with 14, all in the 1st half.  On Wednesday, the Wolfpack revenged an earlier loss with a 50-36 thumping of Loyola Academy.  Brandon Snower led Ignatius with 13 points.  Riley Doody, Tom Digenan, Milton Drain and Stephen Williams all contributed 7.  In the final game, the Pack jumped to a 10-2 lead in defeating Oswego 54-37 to clinch the championship.  Riley Doody led the scoring with 11 as the Pack moves to 8-2 on the season.

The Wolfpack were unable to hold on to a 6-point halftime lead and dropped a 44-41 decision to visiting Loyola Academy. Lester Larry and Stephen Williams led the Pack with 10 points each. The Pack are 2-1 in the CCL North and 4-2 overall.

New Trier Stops Wolfpack

On Monday, the Wolfpack (3-5 overall) lost to New Trier 35-28.  The failure of the Wolfpack offense to take the ball aggressively to the basket meant that the Trevians ultimately got to the free throw line more often and in fact scored 7 more points from the free throw stripe, which was the final difference in the scores.  Kirby Muldoon led the team in scoring with 6 points. 

Pack Win Both Over Weekend

The Wolfpack moved to 3-0 in the CCL with wins over Gordon Tech and St. Patrick this weekend. Against the Rams of Gordon Tech, the Pack eased to a 10-point, 45-35 win as Brandon Snower led all scorers with 20 points.  On Saturday the Wolfpack squeezed out a 40-38 win at home.  Freshman Stephen Williams tallied 15 points to lead the Pack and Lester Larry added 9 points as they are 3-1 overall.

The Pack defeated Gordon Tech 48-21 to improve its record to 3-4 (CCL 1-1).  Sean Lynch led the team in scoring with 10 points while Mike Zonzius and Jack Kurtenbach each had 8.  The Pack's guards, in particular Jack deGalicia, Michael Payne and Alex Thurman, did an excellent job with the ball handling and feeding the post players.

The Wolfpack lost to Fenwick on Saturday by a score of 23-20.  This dropped the team's record to 2-4 (CCL 0-1).  While the Pack played well on the defensive end of the floor, it struggled to score.  Nick Fattore led the team in scoring with 6 points while Sean Lynch and Jack Kurtenbach each chipped in 4.

The Wolfpack (1-1 overall, 1-0 CCL) opened the Chicago Catholic League season with a come-from- behind 43-41 win at Fenwick.  The Pack trailed by 6 entering the 4th quarter when Lester Larry took over, scoring 11 straight points (15 in the quarter) as he led the team in scoring with 17.  Freshman Brandon Snower added 11.

The Wolfpack (4-1 overall, 1-0 CCL) defeated Fenwick 65-51 on Friday night on the road in Oak Park before a packed house.  Brian Howard scored 19 points while Peter Ryckbosch and Marty McClure each added 16. Jack Crepeau maintained his 5 assist per game average as Saint Ignatius built a 50-31 lead and never looked back.

The Wolfpack opened the season with a 48-36 loss to visiting Marist.  The Pack couldn't hold onto a 19-18 halftime lead as Andy Oleniczak led the team with 9 points.

The Pack improved its record to 2-3 with a 37-28 win over Marist on Wednesday night.  Losing 10-7 after the first quarter, the Wolfpack played great defense in the second quarter to push ahead to a 17-12 halftime lead.  With a patient ball-control offense and solid rebounding at both ends of the floor, the team never lost its lead in the second half.  Nick Weil led all scorers with 10 points.  Nick Fattore, Sean Lynch and Kirby Muldoon each chipped in 6.  Jake deGalicia did a great job handling the ball at the point guard position.

11/30/2011 - Frosh 'B'

In St. Patrick's Thanksgiving Tournament, the Boys Frosh "B" basketball team won its opening game but then dropped three straight to finish 1-3.  In the first game, the Wolfpack defeated Chicago Academy 38-16.  Nick Weil led all scorers with 12 points.  In the final game, the Pack was as close as 40-37 near the end of the 4th quarter, but ultimately St. Patrick prevailed 48-38.  Nick Fattore and Nick Weil led the pack with 11 points each.

The Wolfpack took three of four games in the Loyola-New Trier Thanksgiving tournament.  Lester Larry made his varsity debut against Glenbrook South by scoring 19 points.  Abdoulie Conteh added 13 points and Peter Ryckbosch had a career high 13 rebounds.  The Wolfpack defeated South 66-41. In the second game Saint Ignatius scored an impressive victory over Hope Academy.  All five starters scored between seven and fifteen points. Saint Ignatius routed Proviso West 80-39, jumping off to a 48-16 halftime lead.  Brian Howard scored 26 points and Lester Larry finished with 14.  Jack Crepeau had a career high 12 assists. In the championship game, the Wolfpack lost 58-52 to area and state-ranked New Trier.  The Wolfpack could not hold an eight-point lead in the third quarter and faded down the stretch.  Peter Ryckbosch scored 18 points and Marty McClure recorded his first double/double (15 points, 10 rebounds).The Wolfpack move into their Chicago Catholic League schedule as they travel to Fenwick this Friday December 2nd at 7:30 p.m.

The Pack finished the St. Patrick Thanksgiving Tournament with a 1-3 record.  The Pack beat Oak Park 49-45 and then dropped a tough one-point overtime loss to Prospect, 39-38.  Mike McGugan finished the tournament with 50 points and Danny Moore chipped in with 38.
