Last Season Recap
2009 marked the 5th season since Saint Ignatius College Prep re-instated varsity
football and with a new head coach, Pat Jennings, and a great commitment from the
players, a new beginning took place. The final record of 4-5, 3-3 in the CCL White,
matched the best record since football was re-instated. The season started with
two close losses to CCL powers Bishop McNamara and St. Laurence, but even with those
losses a quiet confidence was starting to build and this team was going to be special.
Jake Rosner opened the season as the starting QB and took to the role, passing for
1,430 yards in eight games and running the ball for 560 yards. He also rushed for
six TDs and threw for another 11. Those numbers led to him being named to the CCL
All-Conference team. Jake wasn’t the whole offense as he was surrounded by three
All-Conference players - Mike Riordan, 580 yards receiving; John Reynolds, 560 yards
receiving; and Jeremiah Sheehy, 650 yards rushing. None of these players would have
been successful without an offensive line made up of All-Conference selection Nick
Henry, Joe Cunningham, Eddie Kepes, Matt Lizen, Victor Lua, Joe Irwin, Mike Morris,
Tim Carroll, Winston Reid and Jim Harney. Eric Bradley, John Hillock and Justin
Meier also played major roles in the 2009 offensive turnaround. Defensively big
plays hurt the Wolfpack early in the season, but as the players started to gain
more confidence, the Wolfpack defense started to dominate and was very instrumental
in the team finishing 3-1 in the final four games. The defense was led by seniors
Tom Javorski and Jordan Lewis, juniors Bill Boyle, Dan Reardon, J.T. Vilus and Manny
Caston and sophomore Buck Dodd. The 2009 Wolfpack team would like to thank everyone
for their support. The 2010 football season can’t get here fast enough!!
