The Wolfpack tamed the Dolphins in the season opener last Friday night. The 2011 Wolfpack opened with a 27-14 victory over the Whitney Young Dolphins. What made this night special was not only the exciting win but the game was played at historic Soldier Field, the home of the Chicago Bears. The SICP following was in for a great game. Young scored on its opening drive to take a 7-0 lead. The Wolfpack didn’t allow that to affect them as George Doherty answered with a 54-yard touchdown run to tie the game. Young again jumped ahead 14-7 only to be tied again on a great touchdown throw from quarterback Dan Schiltz to Matt McCareins. The second half saw the Wolfpack defense play its best by shutting out Young and holding them to only 2 first downs. A change at QB for the Wolfpack brought Jack Miya in and he sparked the offense by connecting on a pair of beautiful touchdown passes to Quinn Manfredini and Matt McCareins. The game marked the first time the Wolfpack started the season 1-0 under Coach Pat Jennings. Things will not be any easier this week as the Wolfpack travel to Kankakee to battle Bishop McNamara. Game time is 7:30 p.m.; come out and support the Wolfpack.
