The Wolfpack finished the CCHL regular season with a 4-2 win over Brother Rice at Oak Lawn Ice Arena on Thursday night. Keenan Casey opened the Pack scoring with a goal assisted by Will Yorke and the maroon jerseys led 1-0 after one period. Ryan Willock doubled the Wolfpack lead early in the middle period on a goal with another assist from Will Yorke just two minutes before Patrick Connelly made it 3-0 with a shorthanded breakaway goal set up by a John Browne pass. The Crusaders rallied with a pair of third-period goals that added some late drama in front of a big Senior Night crowd before Mike Fuentes scored an empty net goal to clinch the 4-2 win. Connor White stopped 24 shots on net and the Pack finished strong with their second consecutive win over Brother Rice to complete the CCHL regular season circuit.

Senior Night Delight

The Wolfpack generated plenty of delight for Senior Night in a 7-3 win over Brother Rice at Johnny's West in Chicago on Sunday. Mike Fuentes opened the Wolfpack scoring with a goal minutes before Keenan Casey added a deflected goal on a shot from the point by Jamie Willock and the maroon and gold led 2-0 after one period. After a Crusader score, Patrick Connelly regained a two-goal 3-1 Pack lead when he scored a power play tally assisted by Dan Klein and Andre Dragomer. Brother Rice surged back with two goals to knot the contest at threes before Will Yorke scored the game-winner, a power play goal assisted by Donny Flynn for a 4-3 Pack lead after two sets. Mike Flynn added a third period insurance goal for the winners followed by a second goal each by Mike Fuentes and Will Yorke in the 7-3 win. Tony Fuentes stopped 23 Crusader shots in net for the winners. Andrew Troy, who is the lone Wolfpack senior, and his parents were honored before the game and Troy nearly scored on a pair of scoring chances, but the senior was very happy to share in the delight provided by his Wolfpack teammates in front of a large, happy crowd for Senior Night and the final home game of the season.

Late Rally Falls Short

The Wolfpack scored a pair of third period goals, but the late rally fell short in a 4-3 loss to Mt. Carmel in Homewood-Flossmoor on Thursday night. Will Yorke scored the first Pack goal assisted by Donny Flynn before the Caravan responded with two goals and the home team led 2-1 after one period. Mt. Carmel added a pair of unanswered second period goals and held a 4-1 margin after two periods. Will Yorke cut the Caravan lead to 4-2 with a third-period power play goal assisted by Matt Berghoff just minutes before Ryan Willock added an unassisted strike that narrowed the Pack deficit to a single goal but the late rally fell short by a 4-3 count in the regular season finale. The team now advances to the CCHL JV tournament as the 6th seed.

Pack Tie Caravan

The Wolfpack caught the Mt. Carmel Caravan in a 4-4 overtime tie when Donny Flynn knocked in a last second goal that caught the Caravan and forced overtime at Johnny’s Ice House on Saturday afternoon. The Pack trailed 1-0 before Will Yorke knotted the score at one apiece with a first period power play strike assisted by Donny Flynn. After the brown jerseys reclaimed a one goal margin, John Van Essen answered with an unassisted tally only to see the Caravan retake a 3-2 lead after two sets in a physical seesaw contest. The visitors doubled their lead at 4-2 early in the final period before Will Yorke narrowed the deficit to 4-3 when he hammered in his second power play goal with an assist to Dan Rewers. As the clock winded down to the final seconds, Donny Flynn scored the game-tying goal for the maroon and gold on a clutch play assisted by Blake Brumfield and Ryan Bell. Pack goalie Derek Boca made 21 saves including a highlight reel game saving overtime stop to preserve the exciting 4-4 tie for the Wolfpack.

The Marist Redhawks downed the Pack in a 5-0 shutout at Johnny’s Ice House in a Sunday matinee. The visitors jumped to a 2-0 first period lead and after an early second period Redhawk tally, the Wolfpack responded with a thirteen-shot second period, including near miss scoring chances by Donny Flynn, Ryan Willock, Mike Flynn and Blake Brumfield. Marist held a 4-0 lead after two sets and, despite solid third period chances for Patrick Connelly and Will Yorke among the maroon and white jerseys’ eleven third period shots, the Marist goalie closed the door all day in the 5-0 loss for the Pack.

Strong Finish Topples Vikings

The Wolfpack scored three third period goals within five minutes and toppled the St. Laurence Vikings by a 6-3 margin on Saturday afternoon at Johnny's Ice House West. Donny Flynn gave the Pack a 1-0 lead with a first period goal assisted by Will Gaudet and Ryan Willock. Patrick Connelly doubled the Pack lead early in the middle set at 2-0 on a goal assisted by Mike Flynn and Mitch Berger. The Vikings rallied and evened the count at two goals apiece with one period left. Dan Rewers found Patrick Connelly who scored his second strike for a 3-2 Pack lead just 90 seconds before Mike Flynn scored to double the Pack lead at 4-2 with assists to Dan Rewers and Mitch Berger. Minutes later, Patrick Connelly earned a hat trick with his third goal of the game on a goal set up by Blake Brumfield, and the Pack led 5-2. After a late Viking score, Blake Brumfield completed the strong finish by the maroon and gold with a goal assisted by Buster Browne and Andrew Troy. Derek Baca stopped 13 shots in net while the dominating Pack limited the Burbank team to only three shots in the final period of the 6-3 win.

Two Goal Rally Not Enough

The Pack fell to Notre Dame by a 5-2 margin in Niles on Saturday night. While trailing 1-0, an apparent game-tying Wolfpack goal that bounced off Dan Klein was ruled a hand-directed no-goal. Minutes later, the Dons tallied a power play goal and held a 2-0 lead after one period. The maroon jerseys persevered through the first period hardship and rallied for two goals early in the second frame. Mike Flynn jumped on a loose puck and hammered in his own rebound to narrow the Pack deficit to 2-1. A minute later, Mike Fuentes tied the score at deuces on a goal assisted by Patrick Connelly and the game was back to square one. The Dons regained a 3-2 lead before the Chicago team launched 13 of their 20 second period shots fueled by four consecutive Notre Dame penalties, but the Pack power play came up empty. The home team added a third period goal and an empty net goal in the hard-hitting 5-2 win. Connor White stopped 36 shots on net for the Pack who overcame a patch of early bad luck and rallied from a two-goal deficit but could not capitalize on its scoring chances down the stretch in the loss.

Mustangs Sprint Past Pack

The St. Rita Mustangs sprinted past the Wolfpack with four goals in the first six minutes of play en route to a 7-1 win at Johnny's Ice House West on Sunday afternoon. The fifth-ranked team in Illinois wasted no time when the red, white and blue jerseys scored a pair of goals in the first two minutes and led 5-0 after one period. The Pack penalty killers led by Dan Klein and Mike Fuentes changed the momentum with a penalty kill late in the opening period. The maroon and gold extended the momentum with strong second period play against the Mustangs who held a narrow 9-8 margin in shots in the middle set and led 6-0 after two sessions. After a third period Mustang tally, Andrei Dragomer sent a long pass to Patrick Connelly who outskated his defender and lasered a shot into the net for the only Wolfpack score in the 7-1 loss. Tony Fuentes stopped 16 St. Rita shots on net in the final two periods for the Pack who could not catch the fast-starting CCHL power.

Eagle Trouble in Wisconsin

The Monona Grove Silver Eagles gave the Wolfpack trouble in a 6-1 loss for the Pack in the third place game of the Culver Cup Tournament in Madison, Wisconsin. After the Wisconsin team scored a first period power play goal on a 45 degree shot deflection, Ryan Willock evened the count at one goal apiece with an early middle period score assisted by Donny Flynn and Will Yorke. The Eagles took a 2-1 lead on a goal seconds after the Pack killed off a penalty and the Madison team added a goal late in the period for a 3-1 lead after two sets. The maroon and gold encountered Eagle trouble early in the third period when the third-place finishers added pair of quick goals in the 6-1 win. Overall, the fourth-place Wolfpack played well in the tournament and gave up only ten goals in three games but struggled to find the net against the quick- skating Wisconsin teams including second-round opponent Madison West who claimed the tournament championship.

The Wolfpack experienced un petit déjà vu experience when the Madison West Regents defeated the Wolfpack by a 4-0 count, the second loss to the local team in two years at the Culver Cup Tournament in Madison, Wisconsin. The Pack could not capitalize on six power play chances, including a five-minute major and nearly two minutes of five on three against the blue and white clad Regents. Three of the extra man chances were evened-up by minor penalty calls whistled on the Chicago team that otherwise fired eight power play shots on net, including chances by Ryan Willock, John Browne, Andrei Dragomer, Patrick Connelly and Matt Gotfryd. The Pack trailed 1-0 after one period and fell behind 3-0 midway in the contest before the Madison team added an insurance tally in the final period. The maroon jerseys killed off their three man-down situations, but it was deja vu against the strong-skating and physical Madison West squad in the 4-0 loss. The Wolfpack now advance to the third place match tomorrow against a strong Monona Grove team.

The Pack shut out the Sheboygan (Wisconsin) Red Raiders in a 3-0 win in the first round of the Culver Cup Tournament in Madison, Wisconsin. Connor White stopped 35 shots by the Wisconsin team in the win. Mike Fuentes opened the Pack scoring with a power play goal assisted by Patrick Connelly just seconds after Mike Flynn drew a Red Raider penalty while entering the offensive zone. The maroon and gold held its 1-0 lead though the second period that included a strong penalty kill led by Blake Brumfield, Mike Flynn, Dan Klein and Patrick Connelly. Early in the third period, Donny Flynn banged in a rebound of a Will Yorke shot on a scoring play started by Ryan Willock and the Pack doubled their lead to 2-0. Late in the game, with the Red Raider goalie pulled for an extra skater, Patrick Connelly stole the puck and scored an empty-net goal to ice the win for the hard-working Chicago team. The Wolfpack managed 24 shots on net, but strong defensive play led by Matt Gotfryd and John Browne and a flawless goaltending performance by Connor White were the keys to the well-played win in Wisconsin.

The Wolfpack outdistanced the Notre Dame Dons in a 7-4 win at Johnny’s Icehouse West on Sunday afternoon. The Pack opened the scoring on a goal by Donny Flynn assisted by Ryan Willock and, after the Niles team tied the game, Keenan Casey scored a pair of unassisted goals and then he assisted Andrew Troy on the fourth Wolfpack goal of the period for a 4-1 lead. The green jerseys fought back with a pair of second period scores that cut the Pack lead to 4-3 after two sets. Blake Brumfield opened the third period Pack scoring with a goal assisted by Andrew Troy but the visitors answered with a score to keep a one goal deficit at 5-4. Ryan Willock followed with an unassisted tally for the home team and then Blake Brumfield helped the Pack outdistance the Dons with his second score of the period on a pass from Keenan Casey who earned his fourth point of the game on the play. Pack goalie Ricky Simon stopped 21 shots in net for the maroon end gold in the 7-4 win.

A three-goal, third-period rally, the fourth comeback of a thrilling seesaw contest, lifted the Benet Redwings to an 8-6 win over the Pack at Johnny’s Icehouse West on Saturday afternoon. Will Yorke scored the lone first-period goal with an assist from Ryan Bell before Benet scored a pair of early second- period goals and claimed a 2-1 lead. The Pack tied the game on a Ryan Bell goal assisted by Will Yorke and Donny Flynn. Less than a minute later, Ryan Willock gave the Pack a 3-2 lead on a goal set up by Donny Flynn and John Van Essen. After the Lisle team tied the game at threes, John Van Essen regained the lead for the Pack on a goal from Keenan Casey. The Redwings rallied for two late second- period goals that gave the visitors a 5-4 lead after two sets of an exciting game. Donny Flynn opened the final period with a game-tying Wolfpack goal before Dan Rewers scored the apparent game-winning goal assisted by Donny Flynn with his fourth point of the day, and the Pack led 6-5 midway into the final period. Benet would not relent and came from behind a fourth time in the game with a three-goal rally that lifted the west suburban team to an 8-6 win.

The St. Viator Lions scored four goals in the first seven minutes before the Wolfpack team settled down in front of goalie Connor White who stopped all but one of the next 32 shots in the remainder of the 5-0 loss at Hoffman Estates Ice Arena on Thursday night. The maroon and gold played evenly against the sixth- ranked Lions for the last 44 minutes but the Pack could not cash in on any of its 14 shots in a fast-paced game.

Fenwick Outduels Pack on Big Stage

The Fenwick Friars outdueled the Pack in a 6-3 win on the big stage of the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville on Monday night. Fenwick held a 1-0 lead after one period before the Friars doubled the lead midway in the contest. Dan Klein led the Pack back into the game when the captain scored a Pack goal assisted by Matt Gotfryd and Patrick Connelly. The black and white added a pair of late second period goals and led 4-1 after two sets. The Wolfpack rallied after a Fenwick goal when Ryan Willock scored from the circle on a pass from John Browne. Blake Brumfield continued the rally and cut the Pack shortfall to 5-3 when he scored a goal from Tom Lynch after Mike Flynn took a heavy hit to start the scoring play. The Pack pulled goalie Connor White after 45 saves for an extra skater but the Friars outdueled the Pack and scored an empty net goal on the big ice of the Edge to claim a 6-3 win over the maroon-jersied team that played a resilient game in the loss.

Providence Catholic relied on a third period three-goal surge to defeat the Wolfpack team in a 9-4 win in Crestwood on Saturday night. The Celtics scored a pair of goals before Patrick Connelly cut the margin in half on a goal from Dan Klein and Mike Fuentes. A minute later, Dan Klein scored the second Wolfpack goal with assists to linemates Mike Fuentes and Patrick Connelly and, after a late Celtic goal, the maroon and gold trailed 4-2 after one period. Providence opened the second period scoring before Mike Fuentes answered with a pair of goals, the second assisted by Patrick Connelly, and the Pack trailed 5-4 late in the period before the persistent Celtic offense reestablished a two-goal margin after two periods. A third period surge by the green and white resulted in three goals that powered the Celtics to a nine-goal showing against the Pack who fired 34 shots in the fast-paced contest, but could find the net only four times.

Matt Berghoff scored a hat trick and sparked the Wolfpack to a 4-2 win over the Brother Rice Crusaders in Oak Lawn on Sunday night. Berghoff opened the Wolfpack scoring in the first period with a goal, assisted by Ryan Bell, before Will Yorke doubled the Pack lead at 2-0 after one period on a strike, assisted by Ryan Willock. The Crusaders rallied in the middle set for a pair of goals and the score stood at two goals apiece after two sets. Matt Berghoff then scored the game-winner, his second goal of the game, early in the final period and then he finished his hat trick with an empty net goal in the final seconds. Pack goalie Ricky Simon stopped 33 shots on net en route to the 4-2 win.

The Marist Redhawks rallied for three second period goals to defeat the Pack by a 6-4 margin in Orland Park on Wednesday night. Marist took a 2-0 lead after one period before Ryan Willock halved the Pack deficit with a second period goal, assisted by Donny Flynn. Andrew Troy then knotted the count at two goals when he scored a Wolfpack goal on a play, assisted by Keenan Casey. The Redhawks rallied for two goals within 30 seconds before John van Essen narrowed the Marist lead to 4-3 on a goal assisted by Donny Flynn and Ryan Bell. The home team added another goal and led 5-3 after an action-packed second set. The winners added an insurance goal late in the third period and Ryan Willock answered with his second strike in the game, a goal assisted by Keenan Casey and Blake Brumfield, but the big second period Marist rally was too much for the Pack to overcome in the 6-4 loss.

Late Pack Rally Falls Short

The Wolfpack surged with three goals in the final period but fell short in a 4-3 loss to Providence Catholic on Saturday at Johnny’s Icehouse West. The Celtics held a 1-0 lead after one period and added three second period strikes to build a seemingly comfortable 4-0 lead over the home team. With five minutes left in the third period, Kennan Casey scored the first of two unassisted goals. The second tally by Casey came less than a minute later to halve the Providence lead at 4-2. With seconds remaining, Will Yorke added a third Pack goal assisted by Keenan Casey to narrow the Celtic lead to a single goal. Derek Baca and Ricky Simon combined for 35 saves in the Pack net, but in the end time ran out on the late Wolfpack rally in the 4-3 loss.

The Fenwick Friars relied on a three-goal second period outburst to fuel a 5-2 win over the Pack on Sunday afternoon at Johnny's Icehouse West in Chicago. The black jersied visitors held a one goal first period lead before the Friars scored three consecutive second period goals and gained a 4-0 margin. The Pack offense responded with twenty-two shots in the middle period, including a penalty shot by Patrick Connelly, but only Donny Flynn could find the net when the winger tapped in a rebound of an Andre Dragomer shot and the Pack trailed 4-1 after two periods. Late in the final period, Mike Fuentes scored a goal on a pretty three-way passing play started from behind the net by Dan Klein who passed to Patrick Connelly and Connelly found Fuentes alone in front for the score that halved the Fenwick lead to 4-2 with minutes left. The Oak Park team added a late score just seconds after the Pack killed off their second of two shorthanded situations. Connor White and Tony Fuentes each stopped a Friar breakaway among their combined thirty saves in net for the Pack who could not overcome the big second period rally by the eighth ranked team in Illinois high school hockey in the 5-2 loss.

Crusader Comeback Catches Pack

The Brother Rice Crusaders staged a two-goal third period comeback and caught the Pack hockey team in a 3-3 tie at Johnny’s Icehouse West on Saturday afternoon. Keenan Casey scored a power play goal assisted by Blake Brumfield and Will Gaudet to take the Pack to a 1-0 first period lead. Casey scored his second goal of the game on a set-up from Will Yorke and the home team led 2-0 before Brother Rice halved the Wolfpack lead at 2-1 with a goal late in the middle period. Buster Browne gave the Pack a 3-1 margin with an early third-period goal assisted by Andrew Troy. With just minutes left in the contest, the Crusaders narrowed the Pack lead to 3-2 on a power play goal and 30 seconds later, the visitors completed their late game rally with a game-tying goal. The Pack killed eight of nine penalties, including a pair of two-men down situations, but the Crusader comeback in the final few minutes caught the Pack in a 3-3 tie.

The Mt. Carmel Caravan edged past the Pack in a 2-0 win at Johnny's Ice House West on Sunday afternoon. After the teams skated to a scoreless first period, the brown and white took a 1-0 lead on a power play strike in the first minute of the middle set. The Caravan doubled their lead early in the final period and the south Chicago team held on and edged the Pack by a 2-0 margin. Pack goalie Connor White made 30 saves and the maroon and gold penalty killers led by Dan Klein, Mike Fuentes and John Browne killed off six of seven shorthanded situations. Jamie Willock, Blake Brumfield and Mike Flynn each produced a strong scoring chance for the home team in the third period and Andre Dragomer and Patrick Connelly each added a second period near miss, but the Wolfpack could not find the net despite a 25-shot showing.

The Pack downed the Notre Dame Dons in a 4-2 win on Tuesday night in Niles. The Pack took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Keenan Casey assisted by Buster Browne and Will Gaudet. An unassisted Patrick Connelly goal gave the Pack a 2-0 lead after one period. After the Dons cut the lead in half, the visitors regained a two-goal margin at 3-1 when Keenan Casey scored his second goal with assists to Blake Brumileld and Matt Berghoff. The green and white-clad hosts opened the third period with a goal that narrowed the Pack lead to 3-2 until later in the final period when Will Yorke scored an insurance goal on a pass from Ryan Willock and the Wolfpack downed the Dons in a 4-2 win.

The Marist Redhawks scored three third period goals to top the Pack by a 5-3 count at Arctic Ice Arena in Orland Park on Sunday night. Mike Fuentes stole the puck, skated in from the blue line and scored a goal for an early 1-0 Wolfpack lead. While on the power play, Jamie Willock passed cross-ice to Mike Fuentes who found Patrick Connelly between the circles for a strike and a 2-0 Wolfpack lead after one period. The red and black team fought back and evened the ledger at two goals apiece after two periods. The Redhawks tallied a pair of third period goals before Mike Flynn hammered in his own rebound after Mike Fuentes found the winger all alone in front and the goal narrowed the maroon and gold deficit to a single goal with minutes left in the contest. Marist iced the game with a quick score that topped the Pack at 5-3. Wolfpack goalie Conner White faced 39 Redhawk shots on net and he kept his team in contention while the Pack found the net with 13 shots in a game that played much closer than the shot count indicated. A strong back check effort by Dan Klein to stop an empty net goal exemplified the hard work and determination that nearly won the game for a young Wolfpack team.

Caravan Catches Pack Twice in Draw

The Mt. Carmel Caravan caught the Wolfpack for the second time with a third period power play goal in a 2-2 tie in Homewood on Saturday night. Wolfpack goalie Connor White flashed plenty of leather in a 50-save effort, including a stuff on a third period Caravan breakaway. The Pack took a 1-0 lead in the first period on their own power play goal by Patrick Connelly set up by Mike Fuentes. The home team tied the game late in the first period. With just seconds left in the second set, Andrei Dragomer took a Connor White pass and the speedy defensemen went end to end and doubled the Pack lead at 2-1 on the second Pack goal with the extra man. The Wolfpack had killed off six penalties with strong forechecking led by Dan Klein, Mike Fuentes, Donny Flynn and Will Yorke and the maroon and gold were halfway through their seventh penalty kill when the Caravan scored and caught the Pack for the second time in the contest. Mt. Carmel was whistled off five times, including a late penalty that carried over into overtime, but the Pack could not score despite the brief power play and overtime shots by Andrei Dragomer and Jamie Willock and the game soon ended in a 2-2 draw.

Early Redwing Strikes Net Win

The Benet Redwings struck early at Seven Bridges Arena in Woodridge on Saturday night in a 5-0 win over the Saint Ignatius varsity hockey team. The home team tallied four times in the first period before the Wolfpack shut down the high flying 14th ranked team in Illinois at even strength over the final two periods. The Wolfpack penalty killers, including Dan Klein, Mike Fuentes, Patrick Connelly and Matt Gotfryd, stopped five of six Wolfpack man situations while goalie Connor White saved 34 Redwing shots, including a breakaway and a two-on-one break. Despite the strong defensive play over the last two periods, the Pack could not overcome the early Redwing strikes that netted a win for the host school.

Halloween Eve Trick Not Enough

A hat trick by Patrick Connelly in the first period on Halloween Eve was not enough offense for the Saint Ignatius varsity hockey team in a 9-4 loss to Notre Dame (Niles) at Johnny's West. The Dons led 2-0 before Connelly scored his first goal assisted by Mike Fuentes on a play that started deep in the defensive zone by John Browne to cut the Pack deficit in half. Connelly tied the game at deuces on an unassisted goal started by a Mike Flynn interception at center ice. A minute later, the prolific forward tallied a natural hat trick on a three-way passing play from Matt Gotfryd and Mike Fuentes that gave the maroon and gold a 3-2 lead after one period. The visitors scored two second period goals before Blake Brumfield knotted the score at four when he hammered in a rebound goal from a shot by Keenan Casey on a play set up from behind the net by a Mike Flynn pass. But the green jerseys added two unanswered middle period goals and then finished with three strikes in the final set to spoil the treat for Patrick Connelly and the Wolfpack on Halloween Eve.

Dan Klein evened the score at one apiece with seconds left in the first period on a Pack power play goal assisted by Ryan Willock. Midway in the middle stanza, Andrei Dragomer found Mike Fuentes who doubled the Pack lead at 2-1 before Dragomer added his own second period goal, a four- on-three power play strike set up on a cross-ice pass from defense partner Jamie Willock. The green and white Dons narrowed the lead to 3-2 halfway into the third period but the Wolfpack reached deep inside late in a fast-paced, physical contest to make numerous hustling defensive clears while goalie Fuentes closed the door on the Dons down the stretch. In the end, the Wolfpack skated away with their first CCHL win of the season.

The Brother Rice Crusaders scored three times with the extra man and the southwest side school dropped the Saint Ignatius varsity hockey team 6-1 on Sunday afternoon on Chicago's west side. The visitors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the contest before Mike Fuentes cut the lead in half at 2-1 when he scored a Wolfpack power play goal on his own rebound early in the middle period. The Pack trailed 3-1 after two periods before the orange jerseys struck with a third-period shorthanded strike followed by a third power play tally in the 6-1 loss for the maroon and gold.

Mustangs Rally Past Wolfpack

The St. Rita Mustangs scored two goals in a seven-second span of the second period and the offensive flurry rallied the red and white past the Wolfpack by a 7-3 margin on Saturday afternoon at Johnny's West. The Wolfpack's own rally had knotted the score at two goals apiece early in the second period after a goal by John Van Essen, assisted by Patrick Connelly, followed by a second goal from Ryan Willock assisted by Keenan Casey. The Mustangs answered with a power play goal and a second tally just seven seconds later for a quick 4-2 lead. Another pair of goals stretched the visitors lead to 6-2 before Donny Flynn scored a late third-period goal set up by Van Essen.

The Mt. Carmel Caravan frustrated the Wolfpack (0-2) in a 4-0 win for the visitors at Johnny's Ice House West in a Sunday matinee. The Pack controlled much of the play in their own zone and accumulated a 27-25 advantage in shots in the CCHL match-up but the maroon and gold could not find the net. Mt. Carmel took an early 2-0 first period lead before the Pack dominated a scoreless second period during which Mike Fuentes, Dan Klein, Ryan Willock, Mike Flynn, Patrick Connelly, Keenan Casey, Donny Flynn and John Browne each produced a solid shot on net, but a failed scoring chance. The Caravan scored another pair of goals late in the contest after the brown-jersied goalie had thwarted strong third period scoring opportunities by Mike Fuentes, Dan Klein and Will Yorke in the disappointing 4-0 loss.

Quick Start Nets Celtic Win

The Providence Celtics used a four-goal outburst early in the Saturday night contest in southwest suburban Crestwood to net a 6-1 win over the Pack (1-1). Keenan Casey scored the sole Wolfpack tally after the power skater rushed the net from his own blue line. Pack goalie Rickey Simon held the New Lenox team to a single goal over the final two periods, but quick Celtic start proved too much for the Pack to overcome.

The St. Viator Lions topped the Saint Ignatius Wolfpack by a 6-0 margin in the CCHL season opener for both teams at Johnny's Ice House West on Sunday afternoon. The visitors led 2-0 after one period and added a pair of late second-period goals to take control of the contest. Pack goalie Connor White stopped 40 shots in net for the maroon and gold who produced 14 shots led by Dan Klein with three chances. Freshmen Donny Flynn, Ryan Willock and Will Yorke skated well in their varsity debuts for the Pack.

The Wolfpack (1-0) tallied three power play goals and defeated the St. Laurence Vikings in a 5-3 win at Southwest Ice Arena in Crestwood on Sunday night in front of a large, noisy opening night crowd. Dan Rewers started the Pack scoring with a long-range goal and Will Yorke doubled the lead at 2-0 on an in-close power play goal assisted by Mike Flynn and Patrick Connelly. Donny Flynn added a third first-period goal for the maroon and gold on a power play tally assisted by Ryan Bell. Blake Brumfield pushed the Wolfpack lead to 4-0 early in the middle period on a goal assisted by Patrick Connelly. The Vikings scored a second period goal and a pair of late third period strikes that narrowed the Pack lead to 4-3 before Will Yorke iced the game for the Pack in the final seconds with an empty net goal, his second score of the contest. Pack goalie Tony Fuentes stopped three breakaways for the Pack and defenseman Will Gaudet broke up another Viking breakaway with a strong back check to rally the defense. The Pack held a 40-13 margin in shots, largely due to seven power play chances in a penalty-filled early season Chicago Catholic Hockey League JV match-up and win for the Wolfpack.
