The Wolfpack capped off a great season with a very successful state meet over the weekend. The Wolfpack were led by Nikol Lagodzinksa '14 who posted a pair of top 10 performances in the 100 free (9th) and 50 free (10th) earning All-State honors in both and establishing new F/S & VAR school records in each. Lagodzinska also anchored the 15th place 400 free relay with Danielle Mantich '14, Marysol Arce '15 and Rebeca Martinez '14 that made the All-American time, established a new F/S & VAR school records and marked the highest ever finish in school history. Mantich posted a 15th place showing in the 100 back narrowly missing All-State honors. Arce dropped 8 seconds off her 500 free sectional time and moved from 40th to 20th. Martinez finished 23rd in the 200 IM to mark her highest ever individual state finish. Arce finished 43rd in the 100 fly and freshman Eva Fernandez also finished 43rd in the 100 breast. Junior diver Becky Insalaco capped off her amazing first season moving up a spot from sectionals to finish 47th in the 1 Meter competition. The 200 free relay of Mantich, Katie Tangen '14, Martinez and Lagodzinska finished 25th and the 200 medley relay of Mantich, Fernandez, Arce and Martinez finished 29th. The Pack established 17 new school records this season.

IHSA Sectional Champions!!!

The Pack captured their 7th consecutive IHSA Sectional crown on Saturday and advanced 7 individuals and 4 alternates to the IHSA State Meet. Becky Insalaco started the meet off with an exciting win in the diving competition and advanced to state. The 200 medley relay (Mantich, Fernandez, Arce, Martinez) got the team off to a good start, winning the first swimming event of the day and setting a new F/S record. Rebeca Martinez finished 2nd in the 200 IM but her time qualified her for state and broke the F/S team record. Nikol Lagodzinska won the 50 free in a state qualifying time. Marysol Arce grabbed the 100 fly and 500 free titles to advance to state in both. Lagodzinska took second in the 100 free but was under the state cut and set a new F/S and VAR team record. The Wolfpack won an exciting 200 free relay (Mantich, Fernandez, Martinez, Lagodzinska) to qualify for state and set a new F/S team record. Danielle Mantich finished second in the 100 back, advancing to state and setting a new F/S and varsity team record. Eva Fernandez advanced to state with a win in the 100 breaststroke. The 400 free relay (Mantich, Arce, Martinez, Lagodzinska) finished the meet with a strong win, breaking the varsity team record by 4 seconds.

The Wolfpack finished 5th on both the Varsity and F/S at the MCAC Conference meet. Every swimmer and diver finished in the top 16 in their individual and relay events to help contribute points for the team. Nikol Lagodzinska (50 free/100 free) and Danielle Mantich (100 back) were named to the All-Conference team. New team records were set by the F/S 200 medley relay of Danielle Mantich, Rebeca Martinez, Marysol Arce and Nikol Lagodzinska and Nikol Lagodzinska broke both the 50 free and 100 free F/S and Varsity team records.

The Pack finished in 5th place at the MCAC Championships on Sunday. The Wolfpack had a pair of top 8 relay and individual performances. The 200 medley relay team of Angie Korabik, Olivia Halligan, Melanie Doweiko and Bella Field finished 7th and the 200 free relay team of Doweiko, Field, Cate Lenti and Maggie Maloney finished 8th. Melanie Doweiko finished 8th in the 100 fly and Angie Korabik was 8th in the 100 back. Additional point scorers for the team include Maggie Maloney (200 IM), Cate Lenti (200 IM/100 back), Jasmin Roman (50 free), Korabik (100 fly), Bella Field (100 free), Olivia Hallagan (100 free) and Madeline Monahan (500 free/100 breast). The 400 free relay of Roman, Monahan, Sarah Morris and Brianna Guzman finished 12th to cap a great day for the Pack.

The Wolfpack won 11 of 12 events including all 3 relays and were led by double event winner Rebecca Martinez (200 IM/100 free). Event winners include Becky Insalaco (1M Diving), Marysol Arce (200 free), Tammy Stelnicki (100 fly), Nikol Lagodzinska (500 free), Katie Tangen (100 back) and Danielle Mantich (100 breast).

The Wolfpack defeated the Bandits, sweeping all 12 events on Thursday. The Pack was led by double event winners Theresa Cariola (200 IM/100 free), Kate Shanahan (100 fly/100 back) and Maggie Maloney (200 free/100 breast). Bella Field (500 free) and Cate Lenti (50 free) also picked up victories for the Wolfpack. The team honored senior Stephanie Fernandez. Stephanie ends her swimming tenure with a 37-9 dual meet record over the past four years and Team Sectional Titles in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Congrats Stephanie on a great four years and thank you for everything. The Pack is next in action on Sunday at the MCAC Conference meet at Fenwick.

The Wolfpack fell to #3 Fenwick on Friday night to slip to 8-2 on the season. The Wolfpack picked up four individual victories against the Friars – Rebeca Martinez (200 IM), Nikol Lagodzinksa (50 free), Marysol Arce (500 free) and Danielle Mantich (100 back). The team finished runner-up in both the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

The Wolfpack finished 5th out of 14 teams at the Sandburg Invite on Saturday behind 4 of the top 10 teams in the state. Danielle Mantich posted the highest individual finish on the day taking 2nd in the 100 backstroke. Nikol Lagodzinska (100 free) and Marysol Arce (500 free) both finished 4th and Rebeca Martinez finished 5th in the 200 free. All 3 relays finished in the top 6 with the medley taking 6th, the 200 free relay 3rd and the 400 free relay 4th. Arce was 7th in the 100 fly and Martinez 9th in the 100 back to round out the scoring for the Wolfpack. The team hits the road on Tuesday to face Mother McAuley at Rice.

The Wolfpack finished 3rd at the 22nd Annual York Invite on Saturday. The Wolfpack were led by event winners Rebeca Martinez (200 IM) and Marysol Arce (500 free). Arce broke a 5-year-old varsity team record en route to winning the 500. Martinez and Arce teamed up with Danielle Mantich and Nikol Lagodzinska to cap the meet off with a victorious 400 free relay that saw the Wolfpack come from behind on the last 25. The foursome set a new F/S school record. Runner-up performances came from the 200 medley relay of Mantich, Eva Fernandez, Martinez and Lagodzinska as well as Mantich in the 100 back and Lagodzinska in the 100 free. Top 8 performers include Arce (200 free), Olivia Evangelides (200 IM/100 back), Lagodzinska (50 free), Becky Insalaco (1M diving), Melanie Doweiko (1M diving), Martinez (100 fly), Fernandez (100 fly/100 breast), Karen Juarez (500 free) and the 200 free relay of Fernandez, Stephanie Fernandez, Katie Tangen and Arce. The Pack was at the Dan O’Brien Relays over the weekend and finished in 3rd place out of the 12 teams competing. The 200 medley relay team of Danielle Mantich, Rebeca Martinez, Marysol Arce and Nikol Lagodzinksa set a new F/S school record and held the meet record briefly before it was broken by the Friars. The foursome of Martinez, Mantich, Olivia Evangelides and Lagodzinska set a new meet record in winning the 200 backstroke relay. Other winning relays include the 400 IM relay of Mantich, Lagodzinksa, Arce and Martinez and the freshman 400 free relay of Eva Fernandez, Grace Devitt, Karen Juarez and Arce. Other top 3 relay performers include Madeline Monahan, Kate Shanahan, Katie Tangen, Bella Field, Jasmine Roman and Tammy Stelnicki.

Theresa Cariola finished 7th in the 200 IM and also scored in the 100 fly. The Pack dropped a tough match-up to #3 Loyola on Thursday night at the home opener. The highlight of the meet came on the final event as Nikol Lagodzinska came from behind on the last 25 of the 400 free relay to touch out the Ramblers. Danielle Mantich, Marysol Arce and Rebeca Martinez teamed up with Lagodzinska to break the 5-year-old F/S school record. Martinez (200 IM) and Mantich (100 back) were individual event winners for the Wolfpack.

The Wolfpack opened with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay and never looked back, winning the meet by 35 points.
