Congratulations to the girls swimming and diving team on their 35th place showing at the IHSA State Meet. The girls were led by All-State swims from Chloe Ott (9th 200 IM) and Katie Stelnicki (12th 100 breast). Kate Donnelly had great diving meet moving up from 48th to 30th place.

The girls swimming and diving team captured their 5th consecutive (and 6th overall) IHSA Sectional title on Saturday. The Wolfpack won 8 of the 12 events contested including all 3 relays to qualify 18 swims for the IHSA State Meet. The Wolfpack were jump-started by a monster anchor leg from Julia Haried in the 200 medley relay (Murphy, Stelnicki, Ott) to capture 1st place that set the tone for the rest of the meet. Chloe Ott had a banner day for the Wolfpack capturing 1st place in both the 200 IM and 100 breast in All-American and School records. Meghan Murphy (100 free), Kate Donnelly (1M Diving) and Jenny Hendler (500 free) were all event winners to secure a birth in the state meet. Katie Stelicki dipped under the state cut in the 100 breaststroke in taking 3rd place. The 200 free relay (Murphy, Stelnicki, Haried, Ott) and 400 free relay (Haried, Fernandez, Leon, Hendler) were also event winners. All-Sectional swimmers also include Yvette Leon (200/500 free), Katie Stelnicki (200 IM), Stephanie Fernandez (50 free/100 fly), Sarah Fleming (100 fly), Jenna Fischer (100 free/100 back), Meghan Murphy (100 back) and Michaela Mackey (1M diving). The state meet will be held this Friday and Saturday at New Trier High School.

Wolfpack 5th at MCAC Championships

The girls swimming and diving team finished 5th on both the varsity and F/S levels at the MCAC Conference Championships on Sunday. Chloe Ott repeated as conference champion in the varsity 100 breaststroke and was named to the All-Conference Team for the 3rd year in a row. She was runner-up in the 200 IM to last year’s state champion. She teamed up with Meghan Murphy, Katie Stelnicki and Julia Haried to take 5th place in both the 200 medley and 200 free relays. Top 8 varsity performances were also turned in by Kate Donnelly (8th 1M Diving), Jenny Hendler (7th 500 free) and Katie Stelnicki (7th 100 breaststroke) as well as the 400 free relay (7th) of Hendler, Haried, Yvette Leon and Jenna Fischer. The F/S squad was led by the trio of Stephanie Fernandez, Emily Beltran and Mimi Carter who all finished in the top 8 in both of their individual events. Fernandez was 7th in the 200 IM and 8th in the 100 free, Beltran was 7th in the 200 free and 500 free, and Carter was 6th in the 100 free and 7th in the 50 free. The 200 medley relay of Becky Insalaco, Melanie Doweiko, Theresa Cariola and Carter finished 7th, the 200 free relay of Fernandez, Cariola, Insalaco and Beltran was 7th and the 400 free relay of Beltran, Fernandez, Carter and Doweiko grabbed 5th. Up next for the Wolfpack is the IHSA Sectional Meet on Saturday, November 14, at UIC.

The JV swim team finished up their season on Sunday with a 5th place showing at the JV Conference meet out of 12 teams. All of the swimmers had season and personal best times to end their season. Sarah Fleming led the way for the Wolfpack finishing 7th in the 100 fly. Joanne Amaya (200 free/500 free) and Maura Connors (200 IM/100 breast) both posted a pair of top 16 performances in their individual events. Liz Sweeney, Margaret Bormes and Olivia Hallagan also had a strong meet scoring points for the Wolfpack. All 3 relays placed in the top 10. Up next for the Wolfpack is the F/S and varsity Conference meet at the Vaughn Athletic Center in Aurora.

Wolfpack Sweep Resurrection and Montini on Senior Night

The Wolfpack wrapped up their regular season meets with victories over Resurrection and Montini on Senior Night at UIC. The team finished the regular season with a 9-3 record and now head into their championship meets. The Wolfpack won 10 of the 12 events including all 3 relays. The Wolfpack were led by double event winners Katie Stelnicki (200 IM/500 free) and Meghan Murphy (200 free/100 breast). Individual event winners include Kate Donnelly (1M diving), Jenna Fischer (100 free) and Jenny Hendler (100 back). On the JV side, Emily Beltran (200 IM/100 fly) was a double event winner. Single event winners include Maura Connors (200 free), Melanie Doweiko (50 free), Becky Insalaco (100 free) and Mimi Carter (500 free). Congrats to the 8 seniors who were honored at the break for their dedication to the program - Celeste Almaraz, Joanne Amaya, Sarah Fleming, Jenna Fischer, Jenny Hendler, Yvette Leon, Chloe Ott and Liz Sweeney. Members of the class of 2010 end their swimming tenure with a 38-9 dual meet record over the past four years and team Sectional titles in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Pack Win 6 Events Against #4 Friars

The Wolfpack dropped to 7-3 on the year with a loss to the #4 Fenwick Friars. The Wolfpack swam tough, winning 6 of the 12 events, but succumbed to the depth of the Friars. Chloe Ott led the way for the Wolfpack winning the 200 IM in a new school record and winning the 100 free. Ott swam exhibition in the 100 breast and set a new pool and school record. Jenny Hendler took first in the 500 free, Katie Stelnicki won the 100 breaststroke, Meghan Murphy won the 100 back and Kate Donnelly won the 1M Diving. Sarah Fleming had an outstanding meet for the JV squad who also fell to the Friars. Up next for the Wolfpack is the final home meet of the season on Thursday against Resurrection and Montini.

The girls swimming and diving team defeated Mother McAuley on Tuesday night by a score of 108-77 to improve to 7-2 on the year. The Wolfpack swept all 3 relays and won 10 of the 12 events and were led by double event winners Jenny Hendler (200 free/500 free), Katie Stelnicki (200 IM/100 breast) and Chloe Ott (50 free/100 fly). Meghan Murphy won the 100 backstroke for the Wolfpack. The JV squad fell to the Might Macs, but had strong performances from Sarah Fleming, Maura Conors and Becky Insalaco. Up next for the Wolfpack is #4 Fenwick on Friday, October 16.

The girls swimming and diving team finished in 6th place at the Sandburg Invite over the weekend which featured the #1 and #5 teams in the state. Chloe Ott was a double event winner for the Wolfpack taking first place in both the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Her breaststroke time set a new school record. Ott teamed up with Meghan Murphy, Katie Stelnicki and Julia Haried for a 5th place showing in the 200 medley relay and Ott, Murphy, Stelnicki and Jenny Hendler finished 6th in the 400 free relay. Top 6 performances were also turned in by Katie Stelnicki (4th 100 breast) and Kate Donnelly (6th 1M Diving). Top 12 showings came from Jenny Hendler (500 free) and Meghan Murphy (100 back). The Wolfpack face conference rival Mother McAuley on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Brother Rice.

The girls swimming and diving team improved to 6-2 on the year with wins over Marian Catholic and St. Francis on Tuesday night. The Wolfpack were led by double event winners Chloe Ott (200 free/500 free) and Jenny Hendler (200 IM/100 breast). Other event winners include Meghan Murphy (50 free), Kate Donnelly (1M Diving), Yvette Leon (100 free) and Katie Stelnicki (100 back). The JV squad had an exciting one point victory over Marian Catholic and were led by event winners Maura Connors (200 IM), Margaret Bormes (50 free), Sarah Fleming (100 fly), Joanne Amaya (100 free) and Melanie Doweiko (500 free). The Wolfpack are next in action this weekend at the Sandburg Invite (Friday diving/Saturday swimming).

Congrats to the girls swimming and diving team on their runner-up performance at the York Invite on Saturday. Chloe Ott set a new school record in the 100 breaststroke on her way to winning both the 200 IM and 100 breast. Ott also anchored the winning 400 free relay (Almaraz, Murphy, Stelnicki). Top 6 performances were turned in by Kate Donnelly (2nd 1M Diving), Jenny Hendler (2nd 200 free/3rd 500 free), Meghan Murphy (4th 50 free/2nd 100 back), Celeste Almaraz (5th 200 free/5th 100 free) and Katie Stelnicki (3rd 100 breast). The 200 medley relay of Murphy, Stelnicki, Ott and Julia Haried took 2nd place and the 200 free relay of Almaraz, Stephanie Fernandez, Haried and Hendler took 5th place. The girls face Marian Catholic and St. Francis on Tuesday at home.

On the varsity level Stephanie Fernandez (200 IM/100 free) was a double event winner. Other event winners include Jenny Hendler (200 free), Kate Donnelly (1M Diving), Chloe Ott (100 fly), Yvette Leon (500 free) and Katie Stelnicki (100 breast). The JV squad was victorious as well and was led by double event winners Gigi Carter (200 IM/100 fly) and Joanne Amaya (100 free/100 back). Other event winners include Mimi Carter (200 free) and Maura Connors (50 free). The team is next in action on Saturday at the York Invite.

The girls swimming and diving team picked up 2 victories on Tuesday night over Whitney Young and Marist. The varsity squad defeated Young 170-79 and Marist 170-75. The Wolfpack were led by double event winners Katie Stelnicki (200 free/100 free) and Chloe Ott (500 free/100 back). The team swept all 3 relays and won 6 of the 8 individual events. Other event winners include Jenny Hendler (200 IM), Kate Donnelly (1M Diving) and Stephanie Fernandez (100 fly). The JV squad also was victorious over Young and Marist and was paced by double event winners Joanne Amaya (200 free/500 free) and Mimi Carter (200 IM/100 back). The JV team swept all 3 relays and won all 8 of the individual events. Winners include Sarah Fleming (50 free), Maura Connors (100 fly) and Gigi Carter (100 free). The Pack is next in action on Tuesday, September 22, when they host U-High and Evergreen Park.

The Pack finished 2nd at the 10 team St. Viator Invite on Saturday. Chloe Ott won both the 200 IM and 100 breast, setting a new pool record in the 200 IM. Ott teamed up with Meghan Murphy, Katie Stelnicki and Stephanie Fernandez for a victory in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of Fernandez, Murphy, Julia Haried and Ott also captured first in the 200 free relay. Emily Beltran took first place honors in the 500 free. Runner up performances came from Katie Stelnicki (200 IM) and Meghan Murphy (100 back). The 400 free relay of Haried, Stelnicki, Beltran and Jenna Fischer finished 2nd place as well. Freshman Theresa Cariola, Becky Insalaco and Melanie Doweiko all posted best times in their individual events.

The girls swimming and diving team lost to Loyola on Thursday night but had a pair of state qualifying swims from senior captain Chloe Ott. Ott won both the 100 breast and 200 IM, dipping under the state qualifying time in both events. Jenny Hendler, Meghan Murphy, Kate Donnelly and Michaela Mackey also had strong performances for the Wolfpack. Melanie Doweiko led the way for the JV squad with a victory in the 200 IM. The team is next in action on Saturday at the St. Viator Invite.

The girls swim team lost a close battle (88-82) to sectional rival Latin on Tuesday night at Latin. The Wolfpack were led by double event winners Chloe Ott (200 IM/100 free) and Jenny Hendler (200 free/500 free). The foursome of Julia Haried, Yvette Leon, Emily Beltran and Hendler also were victorious in the 400 free relay. Meghan Murphy, Stephanie Fernandez and Katie Stelnicki had strong meets for the pack as well. The JV squad opened up the season with a strong 93-34 victory over Latin. The P ack swept all 3 relays and saw individual event wins from Joanne Amaya (200 free), Becky Insalaco (200 IM), Victoria Sus (50 free), Liz Sweeney (100 free), Theresa Cariola (100 back) and Maura Connors (100 breast). The team squares off against #10 Loyola at home on Thursday.
