The Arnold Damen, S.J. Society is an honorary society that celebrates the traditions of Saint Ignatius College Prep and its legacy to the future. It is comprised of generous benefactors who have provided for Saint Ignatius in their "estate plans" in the way of a will, life income agreement, charitable remainder trust, gift annuity, life insurance policy, or remainder interest in a residence or farm.

By remembering Saint Ignatius College Prep this way, alumni, parents and friends are able to become perpetual partners with the school while also being involved in its contemporary work during their lifetimes.

We chose to name the society after Fr. Arnold Damen, S.J. because he had the wisdom and foresight to know that education was the way "up and out" for children of the immigrants to whom he ministered. Even today, his perspective on education continues the tradition that makes Saint Ignatius College Prep one of the finest private schools in America. Fr. Damen was a pastor, preacher, educator and pioneer who came from Holland to America in the 1840s before arriving in Chicago in 1857. At that time, he founded Holy Family Parish and school and, from 1867 to 1869, built the school that is known today as Saint Ignatius College Prep. He passed away in 1890 and the church and school remain a tribute to Fr. Damen's faith and vision.

We honor and thank all farsighted individuals who are part of the Arnold Damen, S.J. Society. We are grateful for their commitment to the ideals of Fr. Arnold Damen, S.J., as well as the Jesuit mission of teaching and doing good for others.
