A Message from the Co-Presidents of the Parents’ Organization:

Hello, parents, and welcome to the Parents’ Organization link on the Saint Ignatius
College Prep Web site. As parents of Saint Ignatius students, we play a most important
role in their education. We believe that one of the simplest and most meaningful
ways to truly support the school is to know that we, along with Ignatius teachers,
staff and administrators, are partners during these four years of our sons’
and daughters’ young adult lives.
Just like our student population is very diverse, so, too, is our parent population.
In this diverse group of adults, there are many different views and opinions. We
want to hear all of them. This organization was founded by parents and for parents,
and our most important goal and fundamental purpose is to promote a sense of community.
In that regard, while our organization offers many opportunities to actively support
the school, we openly invite and encourage all to join the parent “network,” even
if your schedule does not allow you to spend any time at school. A simple e-mail
or phone call expressing your opinion, asking a question or offering a suggestion,
even taking the time to visit the Web site are all ways to become involved. This
organization is for ALL parents and participation is not limited only to “volunteering.”
We also hope that you will be able to attend as many of our general meetings as
your schedule will allow. The general meetings have been established as a response
to parent requests for involvement and interaction. They provide a great opportunity
to hear from Fr. Paulson and Dr. Karl about current news, often before it arrives
in your mailbox, about student academic and discipline issues, financial developments,
neighborhood updates, building improvements and more. There are question-and-answer
sessions, where open dialogue is encouraged.
Following is a list of upcoming events hosted by the Parents’ Organization. Please
check this Web site often for more details and to view photos and highlights of
events that have taken place. All events hosted by the Parents’ Organization are
listed in the Parent-Student Handbook, and will be updated regularly on this Web
site, so please be sure to check for time and location.

During the 2007-2008 school year, we hope to have the privilege of meeting as many
parents as possible. Won’t you please consider contacting us to learn more
about your Parents’ Organization or just to introduce yourself? Questions,
comments, suggestions are all welcome….no question is too small… and as parents
of current Saint Ignatius students and a recent graduate, we are sure we will have
a lot in common!
