Saturday, Feb 4: War on the Shore to Benefit Danny Did Foundation

Loyola Academy presents the 2nd annual "War on the Shore". Enjoy a day of high school hoops as three premier basketball programs battle top teams from the North Shore, including Saint Ignatius, battling New Trier at 3pm. A great deal at $5 per entry gains you entry to all three games, and a portion of the proceeds from each ticket will benefit the Danny Did Foundation. The Danny Did Foundation was founded by Loyola Academy graduate Mike Stanton'88 and his wife Mariann after the death of their 4 year old son, Danny. The Danny Did Foundation is dedicated in its mission to prevent deaths caused by seizures. The tournament will be held at Loyola Academy, 1100 Laramie in Wilmette, IL. We hope to see you there.

Strategic Plan - Letter from Fr. Caruso, S.J.

Dear Friends,

The month of March is going to be a pivotal time for Saint Ignatius, and this is not just related to celebrating the feasts of St. Patrick and St. Joseph! I am thinking of this school year as our thorough checkup at the Mayo Clinic for schools.  We are taking a deep and broad look at our strengths and where we want to improve.

The school will be developing a Strategic Plan that will serve as our blueprint for the next several years.  We have a project coming on line in The Father Donald F. Rowe, S.J. Architectural Gallery (“The Gallery”), which will be in the McLaughlin Building on floors 3 & 4. We also have some strategic projects identified such as expanding the backstage area and building a stadium on Roosevelt Road. More importantly, it is critical to have an overarching vision of the kind of school we want to be and then tailoring the capital improvements to the bigger vision of who we want to be. Designing a strategic plan takes a great deal of work and the involvement of many people.

We are using the services of John Littleford and Associates who conduct such consultations for private schools around the world.  Mr. Littleford comes to us with excellent commendations.  I am confident that his work with us will yield many benefits for an exciting and stable future.  Many Focus Groups comprised of our faculty, staff, students, parents, administration, board, donors, community partners, and alumni will help us shape the vision.  We will be keeping you apprised of this important work.

The Strategic Plan is an excellent complement to the AdvancEd accreditation which is being led by Erin Luby, our Dean.  No doubt this initiative will be a major contributor to our future.  Please keep this critical initiative in your prayers.  I will keep you posted as we move along.

Sincerely,
Rev. Michael P. Caruso, S.J.
