Maroon & Gold, We're Going Green! Update Your E-Mail Address Today!
Many of you have probably read articles in the Saint Ignatius Magazine which indicated that "a change" was coming. That time is now, and we hope you’ll call and/or e-mail us to update your preferred e-mail address! We have been preparing to put more of our publications and event invitations online, saving you the hassle of receiving mass mailings, saving us printing and postage costs, and saving a little bit of the planet in the process. (A win-win situation to say the least!) One of the first things to "go electronic" will be the Inside Ignatius newsletter for current parents. The issue about to be mailed to homes will be the last printed piece on paper.
Have no fears. You will still receive the same news about your students and all the great things happening at Saint Ignatius, if not more. If you are a current parent, please contact Rosanne Rosinia-Siok ‘88, Student Records Database Manager, at (312) 432-8307 or rosanne.rosinia@ignatius.org today to report your preferred e-mail address or to verify that what we have on file is correct. If you are an alum, donor or friend, please contact Linda Turner at (312) 432-8412 to update your information. Then watch for bright, electronic publications to arrive online in the fall! You can also visit www.ignatius.org for the most current and updated news about the school.

Donate to Renovate - Watch Progress of Gym Renovations!
Renovation is well under way so the Gentile Gymnasium will be ready for the return of our students and athletes in August. Many proud and inspired families of current Ignatius athletes, alumni, and friends of the Wolfpack have already made commitments to help the school improve the Gentile Gymnasium. Current naming opportunities include:
- The Court ($100,000)
- The East and West Bleachers ($100,000 each)
- The Painting of the Gym ($50,000)
A $50,000 pledge for the scoreboards has already been made. $5,000 pledges are encouraged, which can be paid off over three years and which will be recognized prominently on a plaque to be displayed in the gym. See below to see the current state of the gym, and check back over the next few months to see the latest pictures of the progress. Department of Formation and Ministry to Host Another Parent Faith Series Event
Faith matters for parents! The Department of Formation and Ministry developed the parent faith series last year in order to reach students and parents who are struggling with their relationship with God. Two successful events were hosted in the spring; now we are proud to announce the first talk of the 2008-09 school year: “Sports and the Spirit.” Parents of current students will be invited to reflect on their faith through the portal of sports, which engages a great deal of their passion-- both personally and through their children’s participation. Save the date for Sunday, September 21 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the Dining Hall and Holy Family Church.

OBOI Title is Selected for the 2008-09 School Year
The “One Book One Ignatius” committee, chaired by Ms. Carla Hickey, Director of Library Services, is pleased to announce that the community read for the 2008-2009 school year is Never a City So Real: a Walk In Chicago by Alex Kotlowitz. The book will provide a springboard for discussions on many different levels and ties nicely to the selected 2008-2009 OBOI theme of “Who Are We?”… as part of a Jesuit high school community, as members of our neighborhood community, as members of our families and on our individual heroic journeys. This coming school year, other groups and activities throughout the school will also incorporate the common theme of WhoAre We? Ms. Hickey encourages all to take advantage of time during the summer to read and enjoy the book in anticipation of the school year! Saint Ignatius College Prep liked the City of Chicago’s “One Book One Chicago” reading program so much that administrators decided to mimic the program with the inaugural “One Book One Ignatius” program during 2007-08 for members of the school community. Many students and faculty members alike read the 2007-08 selection, Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. We have decided to continue this program.
