The Wolfpack had strong day at the Palatine Invite on Saturday, finishing 7th against 18 ranked teams. Senior Thomas Fitzpatrick placed 35th in 15:32, another personal best, with senior Luke Turner 62nd in 15:57, his first race under the 16:00-barrier. Junior Brandon Mendoza was 77th in 16:02 (another PB), and senior Duncan DeProfio placed 81st in 16:03. Senior Christian Turner ran 16:13 in 93rd and junior Henry Fink 16:31 for 124th, two more personal bests, to round out the Wolfpack top seven. The unranked Wolfpack scored 271 points behind champion and state number 1 Plainfield South (35), #10 Maine South (163), #18 Barrington (175), #3 Oak Park-River Forest (175), #16 New Trier (184), and #15 Hersey (214)—but ahead of ranked teams #6 Palatine, #9 Lake Zurich, #11 Plainfield North, #14 Oswego East, #17 York, #21 Prospect, and the top-ranked 2A team Grayslake Central. The Wolfpack also beat neighborhood rival #23 Jones, as well as conference rivals Loyola, Fenwick, and Marmion. “It was a good day for us,” said Coach Ed Ernst. “We ran a smart race. The scores at the halfway mark put us in 11th—and together the guys moved up 84 points in the second half. If we stay healthy, our prospects look good for the Chicago Catholic League and the state series ahead.”
