Wolfpack Top McAuley in Thriller

The Wolfpack (17-3, 3-1 conference) took down conference rival Mother McAuley in an exciting three game victory 25-23, 19-25, 25-23. They came out strong in the first set, up 17-13 at the first timeout but McAuley went on a 6-2 run to tie it at 19. Point for point, the Wolfpack battled to a first set win 25-23. The Mighty Macs were out for revenge in set two and led the entire way, taking the set 25-19. The third set started out point for point but the Wolfpack were soon trailing. Down 16-19, the Wolfpack started to close the gap, forcing McAuley to call a timeout at 18-19. Tied at 20, the Wolfpack pulled ahead with a kill by Marin Thaxton and at 24-23, Sydney DeProfio went back to serve and sent an ace over to close out the match. The Wolfpack was led by captains Sydney DeProfio (nine kills, 12 assists, five aces), Emma Basil (13 digs, 15 assists, two assists) and Julia McHugh (16 digs).
