Wolfpack Grab 2nd at Loyola Flight Night

For the second week, the Wolfpack took second place, this week behind a powerful run by Lake Zurich at Loyola Flight Night. Lake Zurich scored 35, Ignatius 70, Highland Park 109, New Trier (B) 139, and Loyola 140, for the top 5 spots. Junior Matthew Conroy was top runner for the Wolfpack with his second place finish, running 15 minutes and 28.5 seconds on the three-mile course around Loyola’s Munz athletic complex. Senior Thomas Fitzpatrick was 13th (16:02.9), senior Luke Turner 14th (16:03.7), junior Henry Fink 16th (16:04.4), and junior Brandon Mendoza 25th (16:24.7) to complete the five-man scoring team for the Wolfpack. “We beat Lake Zurich two weeks ago, but they got a lot better really quickly,” said Coach Ed Ernst. “We have some big races ahead of us at the CCL championships and in the state series, and so now maybe it is our turn to get better.” The Wolfpack race next at the Chicago Catholic League Championships at Lewis University on Saturday, October 15.
