Founded in 1996, Saint Ignatius Chicago Rowing (SICR) is the largest co-ed sport on campus and one of two sports that compete on a national level. It is a two-season sport with over 60 athletes competing each season across three squads: Novice Boys & Girls, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys. No previous rowing experience is required to join, making the sport accessible to all who commit. Saint Ignatius Rowers have gone on to row & study at preeminent institutions across the country.SICR is a club sport, operating under the organization of Saint Ignatius Chicago Rowing, Inc., a nonprofit corporation managed by a parent board. We strive to keep membership dues low so that the sport of rowing can be accessible to all St. Ignatius students. Head Rowing Coach Tony Brooks brings a lifetime love of the sport to Saint Ignatius College Prep. He was an Olympian in 1972 and 1976, and a national team competitor from 1973-1975. His crews have competed in Scholastic National Championships and the Head of the Charles most years. Coach Brooks says the goal is to instill in team members self confidence, competitive maturity and a love of rowing for life. Many graduates compete in college – PAC 12, Big 10 and Ivy League Division 1 programs.

Pack Compete at Home and Boston
The Wolfpack divided and conquered this past weekend. While some of the team squad squared off against New Trier, CRF, and Loyola in Skokie, IL, the Varsity squad sent three boats to Boston, MA where they competed in the world-renowned Head of the Charles regatta. This rowing competition is the largest in the world, fielding 800 teams from countries ranging from the US to Mexico, Great Britain, New Zealand, and South Africa. The Girls Varsity 4+ (Mary Schmitz C'25, Eleanora Murer C'25, Molly Blough C'24, Lauren Alfaro C'24 and Libby McMahon C'25) placed 56th out of 90, the Girls Varsity 8+ (Sophia Shaughnessy C'26, Frida Guillen C'24, Liberty Cunningham C'25, Jazmin Armenta C'24, Mia Lucente C'25, Lucy Bruns C'24, Lauren Rundio C'25, Clare Carpenter C'26, and Rory Church C'25) placed 83rd out of 90, and the Boys Varsity 8+ (Matthew Bermeo C'24, Francis Duffy C'25, John Tarpy C'25, Henry Drogosz C'24, Lucas Bolanos C'26, William Chong C'25, Jack Ennis C'25, Abhiram Batchu C'25, and Sarah Novy C'25) placed 67th out of 90. Great Weekend for Wolfpack
The Pack traveled to Rockford, IL this past Sunday where they competed at the Head of the Rock regatta. In total, 37 teams attended the weekend's race and the Wolfpack put together some great races, resulting in a 3rd place finish by the Girls Varsity 4+ ( Mary Schmitz C'25, Eleanora Murer C'25, Molly Blough C'24, Lauren Alfaro C'24 and Libby McMahon C'25) and a 2nd place finish by the Boys Novice 4+ (Ben Baker C'27, Sam Schuler C'27, Noah Stuart C'27, Harrison Knapp C'27, and Sophia McCarthy C'26). The team is off from racing this upcoming weekend but returns the following weekend where three Varsity boats (Boys Varsity 8+, Girls Varsity 8+, and the Girls Varsity 4+) will travel to Boston, MA to attend the historic Head of the Charles regatta while the rest of the team will square off with Loyola on 10/21 for the battle of the Jesuit Cup at the Dammrich Rowing Center in Skokie, IL.Read More -
Gold for Wolfpack at Wisco Chase
The Wolfpack traveled to Jefferson, WI for the Wisco Chase this past weekend and struck gold! While all boats raced fast and hard, some notable gold medals came in the Mens Varsity 2- (Jack Tarpy C'25 & Matthew Bemero C'24), the Womens Varsity 4+ (Mary Schmitz C'25, Eleanora Murer C'25, Molly Blough C'24, Lauren Alfaro C'24 and Libby McMahon C'25), the Mens Varsity 4+ (Matthew Bermeo C'24, Finn Duffy C'25, Henry Drogosz C'24, Jack Tarpy C'25 and Sarah Novy C'25), the Mixed Novice 4+ (Ceci Petrow C'27, Lauren Haas C'27, James Meyers C'27, Tizoc Gonzalez C'27, and Maddie O'Brien C'27), and the Mens Novice 8+ (Danny Shutler C'27, Linus Quinn Pasin C'27, Michael Tedeschi C'27, Max Gloor C'25, Anthony Tully C'26, Sam Schuler C'27, Alex Medio C'27, Henry Koch C'27 and Maeve Church C'27). Pack Battle at Tough Cup
The Pack was back at it again this past Saturday competing at the 4th annual Tough Cup regatta on the Chicago River. With ten schools attending from the surrounding areas, the Wolfpack raced hard and battled the entire way down the course in all of their events. In the Boys Varsity 4+, Matthew Bermeo C'24, Finn Duffy C'25, Henry Drogosz C'24, Jack Tarpy C'25 and Sarah Novy C'25 earned a bronze medal for their 3rd place finish while the Girls Varsity 4+ made up of Mary Schmitz C'25, Eleanora Murer C'25, Molly Blough C'24, Lauren Alfaro C'24 and Libby McMahon C'25 finished just shy of the medals stand with a 4th place finish for the day. Pack Open Season In Milwaukee
The Wolfpack made its way to Milwaukee this past Saturday where they competed in the Milwaukee River Challenge against teams from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Some of the race highlights included the Boys Varsity 4+ (Matthew Bermeo C'24, Finn Duffy C'25, Henry Drogosz C'24, Jack Tarpy C'25 and Sarah Novy C'25) securing a 5th place finish in a crowded field of 15 boats while the Girls Varsity 4+ (Mary Schmitz C'25, Eleanora Murer C'25, Molly Blough C'24, Lauren Alfaro C'24 and Libby McMahon C'25) finishing 6th place in a competitive field of 12 boats. The Wolfpack will be back in action this Saturday morning (9/23) for their first and only home race (Eleanor Boathouse) of the Fall season, The Tough Cup.Read More
