Coach Justin Fernandez is building on his service to the Wolfpack. The head coach for Saint Ignatius College Prep Boys Swimming and Diving is taking on Girls Swimming and Diving, too. In the time Fernandez has been involved in Saint Ignatius Aquatics, he’s produced multiple MCAC Champions, IHSA Sectional Champs, IHSA State Finalists, and NISCA All-Americans.
Coach Fernandez, a native of Chicago, swam collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point from 2013-2017 and served as team captain.

Wolfpack Place 9th at IHSA State Finals
The Pack placed ninth overall at the IHSA State Championships! Senior Captain Maya Arroyo placed fourth overall in the 100 butterfly and broke her own school record on Friday’s State Preliminaries. Senior Captain Jilly MacNamara followed suit, placing fourth overall in the 100 backstroke, and also broke her own school record on Friday’s State Preliminaries. Senior Aisling Crowley placed 30th overall in the diving competition. Sophomore Colleen Tracy advanced to her first state finals appearance and placed 14th overall in the 200 IM. Sophomore Liepa Niaura placed seventeenth overall in the 100 backstroke following the state preliminaries. Freshman Livia Cremer placed seventeenth overall in the 200 IM in her first state appearance. Freshman Chayse Massimino placed 34th overall in the 200 Freestyle in her first state appearance. Freshman Mariposa Arroyo placed twenty-second in the 500 Freestyle, racing in the fastest preliminary heat. The 200 Medley Relay team of MacNamara, Arroyo, Arroyo, and Niaura placed 7th overall for their first-ever state finals appearance in the event. The 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay team of Arroyo, Niaura, Tracy, and MacNamara also made a state finals appearance, moving up in position from the state preliminaries to score 10th and 9th, respectively. IHSA Sectional Champions!!!
The Wolfpack soundly won the 2023 IHSA Saint Ignatius Sectional at UIC Flames Natatorium. Freshman Caitlin Seder placed third in the diving competition with a new personal best. Senior Aisling Crowley won the diving competition in a new school and IHSA Sectional record. Medley Relay Team of Senior Captian Jilly MacNamara, Freshman Mariposa Arroyo, Senior Captain Maya Arroyo, and Sophomore Liepa Niaura won by more than a second. Freshman Chayse Massimino and Sophomore Maeve Shannon swept the 200 freestyle. Following suit, Sophomore Colleen Tracy and Freshman Livia Cremer swept the 200 individual medley. Sophomores Franchesca Sanchez and Angela Wideikis secure second and third in the 50 freestyle. Maya Arroyo wins the 100 butterfly with Sanchez placing second. Tracy and Massimino scored second and third place in the 100 freestyle. Mariposa Arroyo and Cremer swept in the 500 freestyle. MacNamara and Niaura swept the backstroke. Mariposa Arroyo and Wideikis split in the 100 breaststroke for third and fifth place. The freestyle relay team of Maya Arroyo, Niaura, Tracy, and MacNamara won both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. All three relays qualify for the IHSA State Championship. Wolfpack Take Runner-Up at MCAC Championships
The Wolfpack placed second overall at the Metro Catholic Aquatic Conference Championship. Senior Aisling Crowley and Sophomore Alexis Nelson placed second and fourth in the diving competition. Crowley broke her newly minted school record with a score of 448.15. Senior Captain Jilly MacNamara was named MCAC Senior Swimmer of the Year. Sophomores Liepa Niaura and Maeve Shannon placed fifth and ninth in the 200 freestyle. Sophomore Colleen Tracy was runner up in the 200 individual medley with Freshman Livia Cremer scoring fifth. Junior Madi Manning and Sophomore Franchesca Sanchez placed ninth and twelfth in the 50 freestyle. Senior Captain Maya Arroyo won the 100 butterfly with Sanchez scoring fifth place with a new best time. Tracy, Shannon, and Manning placed third, eighth, and tenth in the 100 freestyle. MacNamara and Freshman Mariposa Arroyo scored third and fifth in the 500 freestyle. MacNamara and Niaura scored big points in the 100 backstroke with first place and fifth place. Mariposa and Livia Cremer placed fifth and seventh in the 100 breaststroke. MacNamara, Arroyo, Arroyo, and Sanchez were fourth in the 200 medley relay. Arroyo, Niaura, Tracy, and Arroyo were third in the 200 freestyle relay. Shannon, Cremer, Sanchez, and Manning formed a B 200 freestyle relay and placed sixth. Arroyo, Niaura, Tracy, and MacNamara were runner-up in the 400 freestyle relay. Saint Ignatius moves onto the IHSA Sectional Championship at UIC on November 4th.Read More -
Wolfpack Take Down Jones on Senior Night
The Wolfpack won against Jones-Payton 141-42 for their last home meet of the season and senior night. Aisling won the diving competition with a score of 256.30 Alexis Nelson and Caitlin Seder taking second and third place. Sophomore Trio of Colleen Tracy, Liepa Niaura, and Margaret Hickey swept the 200 freestyle. Freshmen Chayse Massimino, sophomore Angela Wideikis, and freshman Penelope Del Aguila followed suit and swept the 200 IM right after. Senior Captain Maya Arroyo won the 50 freestyle with Junior Madi Manning scoring third. Sophomore Franchesca Sanchez and Freshman Livia Cremer took first and second in the 100 fly. Freshman Mariposa Arroyo, Sophomore Maeve Shannon, and Manning swept the 100 freestyle. Chayse Massimino won the 500 freestyle in a down-to-the-wire race, winning by .06 of a second. Wolfpack Battle at Red Devil Invite
The Wolfpack competed at the Hinsdale Red Devil Diving Invitational. This invitational is one of the largest diving competitions in IHSA, outside of the State Championship. Freshman Caitlin Seder finished 52nd, Sophomore Alexis Nelson was 25th, and Senior Aisling Crowley scored 7th place overall. Pack Out Swims Dolphins
Ignatius defeated Whitney Young by a score of 116-69. Wolfpack relays won both the 200 medley and 200 free relay. Freshman Chayse Massimino placed second in the 200 free and won the 100 butterfly, with season best times. Sophomore Colleen Tracy and Freshman Livia Cremer swept the 200 IM. Senior captain Maya Arroyo and Sophomore Liepa Niaura were second and third in the 50 freestyle. Maya was also runner up in the 100 freestyle with fellow senior captain Jilly MacNamara taking third place. MacNamara would later win the 100 backstroke with Niaura securing the silver. Freshman Mariposa Arroyo won the 500 freestyle with fellow freshmen Livia Cremer and Isabella Curiel going second and third to fully sweep the event. Wolfpack Place 2nd at Fremd Invite
The Pack placed second in the team standings at the Viking Relays at William Fremd. The diving duo of senior Aisling Crowley and sophomore Alexis Nelson placed 3rd in the diving combined score competition. The Wolfpack won 4 relays and placed second in 3 relays. Senior Captains Jilly MacNamara and Maya Arroyo teamed up with Freshman Mariposa Arroyo and Sophomore Liepa Niaura to win the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Colleen Tracy joined Freshmen Livia Cremer and Chayse Massimino in the 3x100 individual medley relay for a relay win. Sophomore Franchesca Sanchez led off the 300 backstroke relay with Cremer, Massimino, and MacNamara diving in for the event win by over five seconds. Sophomore Angela Wideikis, Cremer, and the Arroyo sisters won the 300 breaststroke relay with a comeback win from relay anchor Mariposa Arroyo. In the combined time events, the Wolfpack was first in the 50 back and second in the 50 free, 50 breast, and 50 fly. Saint Ignatius placed second overall to Fremd but defeated Mundelein, Cary Grove, Rolling Meadows, Mother McAuley, Elk Grove, Trinity, and Latin.Read More -
Crowley Breaks School Record; Pack Places 5th at Sandburg
The Wolfpack had a split weekend at the Rosary and Sandburg Invitationals. The Friday diving competition ended with a Wolfpack win for Aisling Crowley with a new season best score of 440.70 and new school record! She bests the 435.55 score by Ellie Lennon from 2019. 200 Medley Team of Senior Captain Katharine Gilardi, Juniors Peyton Davidson and Madi Manning, and Sophomore Betty Johnston placed ninth overall. Junior Eloise Guth was eleventh in the 200 freestyle and thirteenth in the 100 butterfly. Senior Gabby Veliz was thirteenth in the 200 IM and eighth in the 500 freestyle. Junior Peyton Davidson was sixteenth in the 200 IM and twelfth in the 100 breaststroke. Junior Madi Manning had a pair of top eight finishes with a dual fifth place in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Sophomore Betty Johnston followed suit in the top sixteen finishes with a dual twelfth place finish in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Eloise Guth, Junior Annmarie Drapszo, Gabby Veliz, and Senior Jillian Crocker placed eighth overall. 400 Freestyle Team of Sasha Weffer, Gabby Veliz, Betty Johnston, and Madi Manning placed seventh to close out the meet. Wolfpack Take 3rd at Rosary
The Pack had a split weekend at the Rosary and Sandburg Invitationals. The Wolfpack placed 3rd in the final team scores with a score of 254 points. Senior Captains Jilly MacNamara and Maya Arroyo along with sophomore Liepa Niaura and freshmen Mariposa Arroyo, led off the medley for a tie for third place. Sophomore Colleen Tracy and Freshman Livia Cremer split second and fourth in the 200 IM. Liepa Niaura placed fourth in the 50 freestyle and sixth in the 100 freestyle. Sophomore Franchesca Sanchez was sixth in the 50 freestyle and eighth in the 100 butterfly. Maya Arroyo was the runner up in the 100 butterfly. The Wolfpack put on a strong performance in the 500 freestyle with Mariposa Arroyo, Jilly MacNamara, and Livia Cremer placing third, fifth, and sixth to score big points. The Arroyo sisters, Tracy, and Sanchez teamed up and placed 4th in the 200 free relay. MacNamara returns for action with event win in the 100 backstroke. Mariposa Arroyo closes her events with a sixth place in the 100 breaststroke. Capping off the meet, the relay team of Maya Arroyo, Liepa Niaura, Jilly MacNamara, and Colleen Tracy place second in the 400 freestyle relay. Big Score Leads Pack to Championship
The Wolfpack scored big at the Friar Invite at Fenwick. Senior Aisling Crowley won the diving competition with a new personal best score of 427.90 with Freshman Caitlin Seder placing fourth with a score of 359.15. Freshman Chayse Massimino was sixth in the 200 freestyle with a season best time. Freshman Livia Cremer and Sophomore Colleen Tracy swept the 200 IM. The duo also scored big in their second events, Tracy with a runner-up in the 100 freestyle and Cremer fifth in the 100 breast. Senior Captain Maya Arroyo won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly with season best times. Senior Captain Jilly MacNamara placed third in the 500 freestyle and won the 100 backstroke. Freshman Mariposa Arroyo was fourth in the 500 freestyle and 7th in the 100 breaststroke. Sophomore Liepa Niara, who was a key leg in all three relays, was second in the 100 backstroke with a season best. The Pack routed University High School-Chicago at the University of Chicago by a score of 131-52. Senior Captain Maya Arroyo won the 200 IM. Freshman Chayse Massimino won the 500 freestyle. Freshman Livia Cremer won both the 200 free and 100 breaststroke. Sophomore Liepa Niaura won the 100 backstroke. Sophomore Colleen Tracy won the 100 Butterfly. "Tri-Meet of the Century" Tests Wolfpack
The Pack fell to Stevenson and New Trier in a meet labeled the “Tri-Meet of the Century”. The meet did not disappoint with many in season-best performances and best times achieved by the Wolfpack. Senior Captain Jilly MacNamara lead off the 200 medley relay for a fourth place finish, won the 100 backstroke, third place in the 500 free,and anchored the 400 freestyle relay for a fifth place finish. Senior Captain Maya Arroyo scored a pair of runner-up performances in the 50 free and 100 fly with in season best times. Freshman Livia Cremer and Sophomore Colleen Tracy picked up a top five finish in the 200 IM. Freshman Mariposa Arroyo was fourth in the 500 free. Relay team of Liepa, Colleen, Mariposa, and Maya picked up a top relay finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The Wolfpack competed at New Trier Diving Invite against Stevenson and the Trevians. Senior Aisling Crowley was runner-up with 239.70 points. Sophomore Alexis Nelson moved up with a score of 179.05 to place seventh. Freshman Caitlin Seder was tied for ninth with a final score of 168.30. Pack Roll Past Ramblers
Saint Ignatius College Prep put up a win against the Ramblers with many individual and relay wins 104-82. Senior Ashley Crowley, Freshman Caitlin Seder, and Sophomore Alexis Nelson take second through fourth place in the diving competition. Senior Captains Jilly MacNamara and Maya Arroyo teamed up with Freshman Mariposa Arroyo and Sophomore Liepa Niaura to win the 200 medley relay. Soon after, Sophomore Colleen Tracy and MacNamara go first and second in the 200 freestyle. Freshmen Livia Cremer scores a win in the 200 IM and second in 500 freestyle. Senior Captain Maya Arroyo picked up two individual wins in 50 free and 100 fly. Sophomore Liepa Niaura grabs silver in a tight battle in the 100 freestyle. Liepa joins the Arroyo sisters again with Tracy to win the 200 free relay with a sizzling 23.69 split for Maya Arroyo on the anchor leg. Jilly MacNamara wins the 100 back with a fantastic second 50. Mariposa Arroyo wins the 100 breast in dominating fashion. Pack Win Opening Invite in Wisconsin
The Wolfpack routed the competition at the season opener, Ike Invitational, in New Berlin, WI. Senior Aisling Crowley, Freshmen Caitlin Seder, and Sophomore Alexis Nelson swept the 11 dive competition. Sophomore Delaney Brown won the 6 dive competition. The 200 Medley Relay team of Senior Captain Jilly MacNamara, Freshmen Mariposa Arroyo, Sophomore Colleen Tracy, and Sophomore Franchesca Sanchez won the event by almost 6 seconds. MacNamara would join sophomore Liepa Niaura to take second and third place in the 200 free and later first and second in the 100 back. Tracy and Freshman Livia Cremer swept the 200 IM. Tracy later scored third in the 100 freestyle. Senior Captain Maya Arroyo won the 50 free and 100 fly and was joined by Niaura, Sanchez, and Tracy to win the 200 free relay. Freshman Mariposa Arroyo was a double event winner in the 500 free and 100 breaststroke. In the final event of the invitational, the 400 freestyle relay, the wolfpack swept 1-2 with the relay team of Niaura, Arroyo, Cremer, and MacNamara winning the event.
