Our mission at the SICP Computer Science Club is to not only only teach students about the fundamentals of computer science, but to help them use their new skills to start their own companies and succeed in areas outside of school.
The members of the club will have the opportunity to learn how to code websites and apps with resources such as Code School, Codecademy, and Treehouse. By the end of the year the students will be working on a product of their own that they can eventually sell or turn into a company.
At the club meetings, students have the chance to learn more about computer engineering by not only reading up on the fundamentals, but also getting a hands on experience by taking apart electronics and seeing how they work.
By learning skills that are in demand in today's industries and workplace, students are able to turn these skills into products and services that serve as a way to learn about business, entrepreneurship, and the startup culture.
