GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING - IHSA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

The team soundly won the 2023 IHSA Saint Ignatius Sectional at UIC Flames Natatorium on Saturday. The following students qualified as individuals for the state meet: Chayse Massimino - 200 Freestyle Colleen Tracy - 200 IM Liv Cremer - 200 IM Maya Arroyo - 100 Butterfly Mariposa Arroyo - 500 Freestyle Liepa Niaura - 100 Backstroke Jilly MacNamara - 100 Backstroke Aisling Crowley.

 

Senior Aisling Crowley won the diving competition in a new school and IHSA Sectional record. Medley Relay Team of Senior Captain Jilly MacNamara, Freshman Mariposa Arroyo, Senior Captain Maya Arroyo, and Sophomore Liepa Niaura won by more than a second. Freshman Chayse Massimino and Sophomore Maeve Shannon swept the 200 freestyle. Following suit, Sophomore Colleen Tracy and Freshman Livia Cremer swept the 200 individual medley. Maya Arroyo won the 100 butterfly. Mariposa Arroyo and Livia Cremer swept in the 500 freestyle, with MacNamara and Niaura sweeping the backstroke. The freestyle relay team of Maya Arroyo, Niaura, Tracy, and MacNamara won both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, with all three relays qualifying for the IHSA State Championship. 

 

The IHSA State Championship will take place on Friday, November 10, for preliminaries and Saturday, November 11, for finals at the FMC Natatorium in Westmont.

All tickets will be sold digitally through GoFan.  No hard tickets will be sold at the facility.  All tickets are general admission.  Fans can enter the Natatorium one hour prior to the session’s start time. The link to tickets may be found here.
