Baldwin Qualifies for Nationals

On Saturday, it was light and shifty, with not enough breeze to race until afternoon. Four races were completed in shifty, flat water, and building conditions to open the ILCAs. Sunday, after an on shore postponement to be sure the thunder storms were far enough away, the ILCAs launched around 10:15 a.m. The first 2 of 3 races were completed in a wavy 10-14kt NE. The final race saw a big squall line come through and raise the breeze close to 20kts. Avery Baldwin ‘25 clenched a 2nd place in the qualifier and earned her spot to represent Saint Ignatius at the Cressy High School National Championship in New Orleans this October. Avery is one of two female sailors representing the Midwest District at The National Championship.
