GCAC Champions!!!

After defeating #1 seeded Fenwick on Friday night, the 4th-seed Wolfpack avenged an earlier season loss by defeating 2nd-seed St. Francis by a score of 3-2 to win the 2024 GCAC Championship in thrilling fashion. The Wolfpack jumped to an early lead after Eliana Walker was fouled in the penalty area. Abby Hernandez deftly struck the penalty kick for a 1-0 lead. Team scoring leader, Jess Root added a solo insurance goal with 8 minutes remaining in the first half, but St. Francis countered off a corner kick just before half time. St. Francis added a second goal just minutes into the second half to level the match 2-2. The defense held strong behind the leadership of Sela Nass and the tireless work of Sophia Steuer. With less than a minute to play, Sienna Rezza sent a through ball to Jess Root, who raced past the last defender and crisply laced the ball past the keeper to win the game and the championship.
