Wolfpack Win De La Salle Invite

The Wolfpack improved their record to 14-6 after sweeping through the De La Salle Invite. On Friday, the Pack defeated Morton 25-10, 25-13 and Andrew 25-12, 25-8 to win their pool. On Saturday, it was a rematch against Jones to open bracket play with the Pack winning 25-14, 25-21 to advance to the final four. Another rematch against the Celtics of Providence was on tap but the Celtics would be at full strength this time. The Wolfpack was down 16-10 before erupting to a 25-20 win in game one. Down 18-14 in game two, the Pack again looked unshaken coming back to win 25-23 for a birth in the championship. A possible preview of the IHSA Sectional final awaited against the Meteors of De La Salle. The Wolfpack looked in control after a 25-15 win in game one but the Meteors put the Pack on their heels with a 25-11 win. In game three it was a point for point battle with the Wolfpack winning 26-24 in thrilling fashion. Marin Thaxton was named tournament MVP with 23 kills and 16 aces. Sydney DeProfio was named to the All-Tournament First Team with 16 kills, 8 aces and 4 blocks. Skylar Greene had a huge championship match and finished with 25 kills while Audrey Schabes ran the Pack offense with 66 assists. Maggie Rankin (10 kills, 6 blocks) and Mariella Ciaravino chipped in 19 kills.
