IHSA Sectional Champions!!!

The Wolfpack soundly won the 2023 IHSA Saint Ignatius Sectional at UIC Flames Natatorium. Freshman Caitlin Seder placed third in the diving competition with a new personal best. Senior Aisling Crowley won the diving competition in a new school and IHSA Sectional record. Medley Relay Team of Senior Captian Jilly MacNamara, Freshman Mariposa Arroyo, Senior Captain Maya Arroyo, and Sophomore Liepa Niaura won by more than a second. Freshman Chayse Massimino and Sophomore Maeve Shannon swept the 200 freestyle. Following suit, Sophomore Colleen Tracy and Freshman Livia Cremer swept the 200 individual medley. Sophomores Franchesca Sanchez and Angela Wideikis secure second and third in the 50 freestyle. Maya Arroyo wins the 100 butterfly with Sanchez placing second. Tracy and Massimino scored second and third place in the 100 freestyle. Mariposa Arroyo and Cremer swept in the 500 freestyle. MacNamara and Niaura swept the backstroke. Mariposa Arroyo and Wideikis split in the 100 breaststroke for third and fifth place. The freestyle relay team of Maya Arroyo, Niaura, Tracy, and MacNamara won both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. All three relays qualify for the IHSA State Championship. The following qualify for individual events: Chayse Massimino - 200 Freestyle Colleen Tracy - 200 IM Liv Cremer - 200 IM Maya Arroyo - 100 Butterfly Mariposa Arroyo - 500 Freestyle Liepa Niaura - 100 Backstroke Jilly MacNamara - 100 Backstroke Aisling Crowley - Diving Coach Michael Sprehe was named the 2023 IHSA Sectional Diving Coach of the Year. The IHSA State Championship will take place on Friday Nov 10th for Prelims and Saturday Nov 11 for Finals at FMC Natatorium in Westmont.
