Davis '20 Wins Award for Feature Film at Slamdance
Elijah Davis '20 won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature Film at the 2026 Slamdance Film Festival for his film Three Colors: Pan-African. He created, co-directed, co-wrote, and produced the film, leading a group of over 200 young Black creatives and creatives of color over a three-year period. The film is executive-produced by NBA MVP Derrick Rose, Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney, Tony Award winner Glenn Davis, and Chicago financier Martin Nesbitt. It stars Chicago natives Bashir Salahuddin and Stephen Bishop, alongside Peyton Alex Smith and Emmy / NAACP Image Award winner Loretta Devine. The film also screened at the Dallas International Film Festival in April and is set to screen at the American Black Film Festival (Miami) in May and the LightReel Film Festival (DC) in June. For more information, as well as updates on Chicago screenings, please click HERE. Inspired by Krzystof Kieslowki's Academy Award-nominated Three Colors Trilogy, Three Colors: Pan-African is an anthology feature film that uses the Pan-African flag as its thematic reference point. The film features three stories about Black existence that correlate with the colors of the flag: RED (Liberation), BLACK (Unity), and GREEN (Prosperity).

Students Publish New BookThe students of Saint Ignatius College Prep's Lead Listening Society recently wrote and published a watershed book entitled Talk Less. Listen More! The students are excited to share it with our alumni community. This distinctive collection of essays shines a light on the transformative power of intentional, human-centered listening—a skill essential to leadership, community, and Ignatian formation, yet one that fewer than two percent of people have ever been formally taught. Through moving personal stories from student contributors, the book invites readers to rediscover listening as a catalyst for connection, understanding, and healing. We invite you to support the work of our students and deepen your own commitment to L-I-S-T-E-N. Dr. John G. Igwebuike is the moderator of The Lead Listening Society. Click here for more.

Garibay ’91 Hosts Beer Culture Summit - 5.8-9.26 Liz Garibay ’91, invites the Saint. Ignatius community to the Beer Culture Summit, happening next week. Described as a “mini SXSW of beer,” the public gathering was launched in 2019 in partnership with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History to bring together researchers, museum leaders, and beer enthusiasts from around the world. This multidisciplinary, hybrid forum uses beer as the lens to explore deeper conversations around culture and history. Two special in-person events anchor the weekend. Click on each for more details.
Together, these programs reflect the Summit’s commitment to expanding how we understand beer - not just as a beverage, but as a powerful entry point into cultural and historical inquiry. Garibay ’91 is offering the Saint Ignatius community a discount to attend. Use code SICP by May 6.

Out-of-State Alumni & Friends Gatherings The spirit of the Wolfpack transcends state lines, as evidenced by a vibrant series of recent alumni and friends gatherings held across the country. From the scenic backdrop of Burlingame’s Barrelhouse Restaurant in Northern California to an intimate evening at the Film Independent Office in Los Angeles, hosted by Angel Lee ’94, these events served as a reminder of our collective pride. In Atlanta, Rick Frazier ’75 and Joy Rohadfox graciously welcomed guests to The Charles, fostering an environment for reconnection. Each gathering also offered attendees a chance to hear firsthand school news from President John Chandler. It was great to see such enduring devotion to our alma mater!
