The soccer pitch was where Saint Ignatius College Prep Girls Soccer put in a pitch perfect performance Saturday, June 7.
They won a thrilling 1-0 game over Peoria Notre Dame to clinch the IHSA 2A State Championship at North Central College. It is the program's first state Championship in school history, and the school's fifth IHSA state title overall.
In this stellar group effort, players MC Galante did not allow a goal and Lili Garcia scored the game's lone goal with just minutes remaining in regulation.
Going into the semifinals, Head Coach Pam Whitehead said, "Over the season we had some bumps, but it just made us grittier and stickier. I'm so proud of them."
She's not alone. The whole Wolfpack is proud of this team. Congratulations to all of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, families and fans! Go Wolfpack!
