Wolfpack Take 3rd at IHSA State Finals; Swan Wins Two Titles
The Wolfpack earned a 3A trophy at the IHSA State Finals by finishing in third place, only nine points from first place. Three Wolfpack competitors earned All-State honors - Annika Swan, Ally Shutler and Maliyah Miller. Annika Swan won both the 800 and 1600. She is the first female IHSA State champion in the history of the track and field program. Swan broke her own school record in the 800. Ally Shutler finished second in both the 3200 and 1600. She broke her own school record in the 3200. Maliyah Miller finished third in the 200 and sixth in the 100. She set school records in both events. The 4x800 team of Lizeth Montes, Elle Sheaffer, Greta Sheaffer and Gabriella Duque advanced to Saturday's finals and finished 10th. The 4x100 team of Tori Scott, Sophia Mendoza, Chika Ezike and Caroline McCann finished 35th. Elizabeth Schmiedeler (42nd in Pole Vault) and Sadie McGuire (30th in Shot Put) represented the team in the field events.
