In its best performance of the season, the Wolfpack won the 2A division at the Niles West Pat Savage Invite with 37 points to defeat Saint Viator, Woodstock, and 28 other teams. Senior Jacob Flynn finished 2nd (15 minutes and 59 seconds) in the division, with senior Harry Lesak 6th (16:23), sophomore Brian Moore 8th (16:29), and junior Liam Linnen 10th (16:43) all winning medals. Sophomore Nick Kiley finished 11th (16:47) to complete the five-man scoring team for Ignatius. Freshman Jack Rhyner (17th, 17:03) and sophomore Theo Conroy (20th, 17:05) completed the top seven. The 2A race ran at the same time as the big-school 3A race, and in that combined race the Wolfpack placed third with 129 points behind state number nine ranked Oswego East and number 6 ranked New Trier. The Wolfpack are the number three ranked team in the IHSA 2A division. “The course was slow, but our guys did a much better job in the mud than we did last week at Palatine,” said Coach Ed Ernst. “This race shows that we are coming together at the right time, with the Chicago Catholic League championships two weeks away and the state meet in a month!”
