In a weekend of postponements and light shifty conditions, the St. Ignatius JV Sailing team placed sixth at the Scrappy Regatta in Culver, Indiana. Thomas Snyder and Niklas Swanson sailed in A Division and Sofia Sandoval and Matthew Schmitt sailed in B Division, finishing the day on the podium with a third place finish. Conditions allowed the sailors to complete only three races on Saturday before racing was canceled for the day due to inclement weather. Sunday brought light but more stable Northwesterly breeze which held up for four races in which the Wolfpack showed that their persistence paid off. Skipper Sofia Sandoval and crew Matthew Schmitt read the shifts to finish strong and bring home the win to boost the team’s overall standing in the second running of the Scrappy Memorial Regatta.
