The Ignatius sophomore cross country team won the Chicago Catholic League championship on Saturday at Lewis University, a one-point win over Loyola, 33-34. Hugh Lynch was top finisher in second place with a time of 17 minutes and 23.0 seconds, followed closely by Nick Lopez in third with a personal best 17:43.5. Alex Wright finished 12th (18:21.4), Charlie Archambault 14th (18:22.5), and Austin Rickelman 15th (18:37.3) to complete the five-man scoring team for the Wolfpack. “When these guys were freshman a year ago, they finished way back in the pack,” said coach Ed Ernst. “They’ve worked really hard to get better, and their close win was key to our sweep for the day.”
