OH, WHAT A NIGHT: GLORIAM!

Kristyn Hartman
The lights were low. The tables were set. The crowd was beautiful - and not just because people looked great. Their beauty was the stuff of considerable heart. Every man and woman who came to the Gentile Gym for Gloriam 2023 did so with purpose: To help raise the critical funding necessary for the Saint Ignatius College Prep Tuition Assistance Program.
Featured speaker Victoria Gaspar-Brennan '07 made sure to spotlight the generosity of the evening and what it makes possible.

She talked about embracing Ignatian values, becoming a woman for others, building lifelong connections, and learning to lead a life of faith, love, service and leadership. The path she walks now, as an adult, was one she forged at 1076 West Roosevelt with the help of people who gave to tuition assistance.

"Education is the greatest gift we can give to our children" said Gaspar-Brennan, "The four years I spent here were four of my best. None of it would have been possible without you."

2023 Gloriam Co-Chairs and Ignatius parents, Stacey Cavanagh, Elisa Reliford and Sam Kelly (who served with their husbands, dedicating considerable time to the effort) say the tradition of generosity is born in a spirit of appreciation. Cavanagh has six children at Ignatius.

"This place is remarkable...We are paying that forward," said Cavanagh.

Reliford added, "It's exciting to see this community come together to ensure that individuals who wouldn't have access to this education, do."

"I'm inspired by the generosity of our parents and so many others," said Kelly.

That kindness, whether you bought a ticket, bid on an auction item, or helped sponsor the event, propelled Gloriam 2023 to a fundraising record of more than $3.5 million for financial aid.

Saint Ignatius College Prep President John Chandler said, "It was a sea of generosity. Our school community is grateful for all the opportunities this provides our students - for the gift of a Jesuit Catholic education this makes possible."

"The financial aid we will be able to award students from this event will create an inflection point in the lives of so many young people to form not only their minds, but their hearts as well," said Chief Development Officer, Dr. Jesse Meyer, who also had a shout out for Director of Events Libby Lucas, "The role she plays in bringing people together around a common purpose and mission is nothing short of breathtaking."

At night's end, Lucas smiled and said, "I find this so overwhelming to the point of no words. The people in this school community are so wonderful, and we're so thankful."

Thankful for the contributions in time, talent, and resources that will ensure that all students, regardless of family income, have the opportunity to attend Saint Ignatius College Prep.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!
