Ice Breaker Regatta

This weekend Ignatius sailing kicked off the spring season with a sixth place at the Icebreaker hosted by Chicago Yacht Club. Saturday had gusts up to 35 knots on the lake, so racing took place in the harbor. Ignatius sailed with two teams, Avery Baldwin ‘25 and Sofia Sandoval ‘25 in A division, and John Duffy ‘23 and Fin Connolly ‘26 in B division for team 1. Team two consisted of skipper Emery Schularz, (a LSOC sailor) and Whitney Koif ‘25 in A, and Matthew Schmitt ‘25 and Thomas Synder ‘23 in B division. Saturday presented puffy and shifty conditions, ending with Ignatius team 1 in 6th overall and Ignatius team 2 in 10th of 15 teams. Sunday started with an onshore postponement because of the lack of wind, and racing was eventually canceled.
