For over 10 years, Saint Ignatius College Prep has partnered with the Archdiocese of Chicago for the annual Healing Garden Prayer Service.
This special prayer service acknowledges both the painful presence of past child sexual abuse within the Catholic community, and our ardent hope to create safer communities for all people, but most especially children. Over 100 elementary students from neighboring Catholic grammar schools were on hand for today's service. Saint Ignatius students served as prayer and musical leaders for the prayer service, which included songs, readings, an abuse survivor testimony of his journey to forgiveness and a planting of Pinwheels, the national symbol for child abuse prevention. Due to the disruptions of Covid-19, this was our first in-person service since April 2019.
