New year, new space! This January marked our student-athletes’ first official workout in the beautiful new strength and conditioning building at 1055 West Roosevelt Road!
Our football and rowing teams showed up bright and early on the January 10th debut of the space. Saint Ignatius College Prep President John Chandler said, “We are grateful to the Ignatius families who have stepped forward to help build out the first phase of this project. This will elevate our sports programs.”
Football team member Ian Flaherty ‘25 is thankful for all the added room to work out and train.
“It really changes the game. Before we could only fit a few guys in the weight room. Now we have the whole team,” he said with a smile, “I can already tell we are going to be faster and stronger!”
Saint Ignatius College Prep partnered with The Fitness Connection in imagining, designing and installing a customized, 5000 square-foot workout space for our student-athletes and athletic teams. The building at 1055 adds to existing workout space on campus.
“As our athletic programs continue to excel and compete at the highest levels, there became a growing demand for greater access to high-quality, on-campus training and off-season workouts in order to sustain our shared athletic success," said Athletic Director Mike Hurley '07, "We look forward to this new space serving as a game-changing resource for our student-athletes, coaches and teams for many years to come.”
