Martin Cabrera Jr. Honored with Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award

Martin Cabrera Jr. Receives Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award
The Saint Ignatius community is proud to celebrate Martin Cabrera Jr.—former Board Chair and past parent—who was honored this week in New York City with the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award, one of the nation’s most prestigious recognitions for humanitarian and philanthropic leadership.

Each year, the award acknowledges exemplary leaders who advance equity, justice, and human rights. Cabrera was honored alongside Stephen Colbert, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and Darren Walker at the December 9 gala.

The founder and CEO of Cabrera Capital, Martin Cabrera Jr. has built a national reputation for expanding financial empowerment, creating pathways to opportunity, and investing in communities. His leadership extends across Chicago and beyond through service on the boards of World Business Chicago, INTERSECT Illinois, Homeboy Industries, and several civic organizations.

In his remarks, Cabrera emphasized the importance of faith in his personal and professional life, noting that Ignatian values have shaped his enduring commitment to service. His recognition on this national stage reflects not only his extraordinary work, but also the values that animate the Saint Ignatius community.

President John Chandler and Board Chair Matt Tully traveled to New York to celebrate this meaningful achievement—a moment of deep pride for our entire school.
