Saint Ignatius College Prep is a Catholic Jesuit high school founded in 1869. It is Chicago’s first Jesuit school, a distinguished member among the 430 Jesuit high schools in 55 nations around the world. Saint Ignatius dedicates itself to preparing young men and women for lives of faith, love, service, and leadership in the Jesuit tradition of “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam” or “for the greater honor and glory of God.”
The five ideals known as Ignatian Values were set forth by Ignatius Loyola, our school’s patron saint and founder of the Society of Jesus, or “the Jesuits.” These Ignatian values inspire and guide all Saint Ignatius students, faculty, and staff to seek the “magis,” or “more,” to live in pursuit of justice and service to the community in the model of Jesus Christ.
