Sophomore Formation
Highlights In Year Two...
During sophomore year, Saint Ignatius College Prep students go on their first overnight retreat. In their two days away, off campus, they explore the theme “Living Word,” which compliments their study of the Bible in theology class. They also explore the integration of sacred Scripture into their Faith and their service, a commitment they build on after freshman year.

Adding Service Hours
Required faith-based service to the community expands from 10 to 20 hours. -
Face-to-Face Service
Students prioritize face-to-face service, by volunteering their time at places such as the Boys and Girls Club where they might mentor younger children in a community outside their own, fueling an “Open to Growth” mindset. Students can also find face-to-face opportunities on campus by volunteering for groups such as Circle of Friends, which would allow them to work one-on-one with people, and meet the needs of a community that has faced marginalization. -
Focused Service
We encourage students to dedicate their service hours to the same place so they understand the value of investing in a group of people. -
Reconciliation
As in every other formation year, sophomores get protected class time to pray and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent.
All members of the sophomore class receive protected class time to pray and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent.
Members of the sophomore class join the freshmen class and their families for a special Mass every year.
