Loyola Defeats Pack
After an intense two weeks of soccer, the Wolfpack stepped up and played through tired legs and injuries against Loyola this past Tuesday but fell 3-1. The lone goal was scored by Kayla Washington who has extended her scoring streak to six consecutive games. Keeper MC Galante, despite being hammered by 10 shots, kept the Wolfpack in the game with 7 outstanding saves.Read More -
H-F Barely Tops Pack in PK's
It was a heartbreaker at the BODYARMOR championship game this past Sunday against Homewood-Flosmoor. The Wolfpack took an early lead on a PK after Kayla Washington was taken down by the Homewood Flossmoor goalie in the box. The Wolfpack backline of Emma Penner, Lucy Schimdt, Izzy Radecki and Lily Schwartz had their hands full keeping track of attackers. For long stretches the Wolfpack midfield dominated and kept the ball in front of the H-F goal, but the keeper for H-F was able to intercept every shot. Meanwhile, our keeper MC Galante had two incredible diving fingertip saves to keep us ahead. H-F never stopped pushing and finally scored an equalizer late in the game to make it 1-1 at the end of regulation. The Pack then was edged in penalty kick's and H-F won the bracket with a 3-2 margin in overtime. It was a great effort by the Wolfpack!Read More -
Pack Upset Dolphins
The Wolfpack scored an upset 1-0 victory over Whitney Young this past Friday at Senior Night. Our four seniors, Lilly Grant, Emma Penner, Maeve O'Meara and Olivia Stern started the game. It was a hard fought battle until late in the second half when Olivia Hanna chipped a beautiful ball in behind the Whitney Young back line, and Kayla Washington was in for the winning goal. As usual our back line withstood the onslaught, of special note was the performance from right back Izzy Radecki who chased down the Dolphins fast forward on a sprint down the sideline at least 10 times. Wolfpack Headed to Championship Round of Body Armor Series
The Wolfpack took their second game in the BODYARMOR tournament with a 6-0 victory over Highland Park. Ignatius will advance to the championship round of the tourney on Sunday April 21st which will be played at Lyons Township. Over the last week, the Pack has found their offensive power, but we can't forget our fantastic line up of defenders--without them stopping our opponents in their tracks we would not be successful. Special acknowledgement goes to our centerback Quinn Urquhart. Quinn reads the game beautifully, always where she needs to be, calm under pressure, and has made many 1 on 1 saves that otherwise would have resulted in shots on goal. Quinn, and the rest of the defenders, Emma Penner, Izzy Radecki, Carmella O'Malley, Lucy Schimidt and Lily Schwatrz, are the best! On the attacking side, goals last night were scored by Olivia Hanna (2), Kayla Washington (2), Sloan Williams and Lili Garcia. Assists were contributed by Kayla Washington (2), Sloan Williams, and Izzy Radecki as our two keepers, MC Galante and Ava Stern, shared time in the goal and each had a shutout.Read More -
Wolfpack Defeat Wauconda
The Pack won their first game of the BODYARMOR SERIES on Saturday, downing Wauconda 1-0. Despite the close score, it was the Wolfpack all the way, with 7 shots on target and another 15 that just missed the target for a total of 22 shots in the game. Shots came from Kayla Washington, Sloan Williams, Maeve O'Meara, Lili Garcia (who scored the lone and winning goal with an assist from Kayla Washington), Olivia Hanna, Sofia Knoepp, and Quinn Urquhart. Keeper MC Galante had 5 saves for a shutout, sealing the victory.Read More -
Pack Shuts Out Fenwick
The Wolfpack was excellent from the back to the front during their 4–0 shut out of Fenwick last night in GCAC play. The Pack was led by their center midfielders, Sofia Knoepp, Maeve O’Meara, Lili Garcia and Fallon Urquhart who controlled the tempo and direction of the game. Equally excellent was the Wolfpack back line of Izzy Radecki, Carmella O’Malley, Quinn Urquhart, Emma Penner and Lily Schwartz as they anchored the defense shuting down a prolific Friar scorer. Striker Kayla Washington contributed two of the four goals while Knoepp and O'Meara tallied up the remaining two. Keeper MC Galante had a shut out with several key saves. The Wolfpack enters the BODYARMOR tournament this weekend with a fresh determination and drive. Go Pack!Read More -
ICCP Comes Back to Stop Pack
The Wolfpack suffered their first GCAC loss last night against ICCP. Kayla Washington scored on an early PK for the Pack, but the team was unable to defend the one goal lead and ended up losing 2-1 despite a great game of possession and chances in the attacking zone. This puts the Wolfpack at 2-1-1 in GCAC play with four more conference games to go.Read More -
Pack Edge De La Salle
The Wolfpack continues its undefeated GCAC run with a victory Saturday over De La Salle 4-3. The Wolfpack unleashed a flurry of goals as Maeve O'Meara and Lilly Garcia drove home one each, while sophomore Kayla Washington notched up two. The Pack is looking forward to two more GCAC games next week against ICCP and Fenwick as well as the start of the BODYARMOR tournament.Read More -
Pack Tie Spartans
The Wolfpack continue their undefeated streak since the start of GCAC play, with two ties and a win. Last night the Pack battled to a 1-1 tie in a well-matched and hard played game. The Wolfpack scored in the first half, with a strong attack from Kayla Washington. In the second half, the Spartans brought the heat and our back line of Izzy Radecki, Emma Penner, Quinn Urquhardt and Carmella O' Malley along with keeper MC Galante were kept hopping to shut down chances playing beautifully. Blustery Night Ends in Tie for Pack
The Wolfpack traveled to the U of C Lab School Tuesday night and battled to a 1-1 draw on a blustery evening. The contest turned out to be very even with a determined attacking Maroons team taking it to the Wolfpack for the first twenty minutes. The Wolfpack patiently worked on controlling the game and was rewarded with a goal in the first half. The Pack continued to have many scoring opportunities as the game progressed but the Lab School keeper kept the Maroons in the game. Late in the second half, the Maroons where awarded a direct free kick in a dangerous spot and they converted to tie the game up. Despite a tremendous last five minute effort by the Wolfpack the game ended in a tie.Read More -
Wolfpack Take Down Mighty Macs
The Wolfpack started GCAC play on Saturday and came away with a 3-1 victory over Mother McAuley. Despite numerous attempts on goal, the Wolfpack was down 0-1 at half time but came out blazing in the second half. The first goal was scored by senior defender Captain Emma Penner with a long ball into the goal area, which floated in just under the crossbar. The two subsequent goals were scored by Kayla Washington, the first from a corner by Lauren Reed and the second with an assist from wingback Izzy Radecki. The Wolfpack has been playing some of the top ranked teams in the state over the past two weeks and has developed a solid defense with Quinn Urquhart, Emma Penner, Lucy Schmidt, Lilly Schwartz, Carmella O' Malley and Izzy Radecki, anchored by keeper MC Galante, turning in a strong performance. Next week, the team takes on U of C Lab School and is gunning for another victory.Read More -
New Trier Defeats Pack
The Wolfpack finished their tough City-Suburban Invitational taking on 5th ranked New Trier. Despite holding the Trevians scoreless for most of the first half, they finally found a way through our defense and the game ended with a Wolfpack loss 6-0. The Wolfpack is looking forward to upcoming conference play.Read More -
Evanston Shuts Out Pack
The Wolfpack lost to Evanston on Tuesday night 5-0. The Pack was scored three times in the first ten minutes but adjusted thier formation into a five back system and held the other team to one additional goal in the second half with some good offensive forays. Keeper MC Galante had an outstanding game with fifteen saves on nineteen attempts to keep the Pack in the game.Read More -
Wolfpack Upend Undefeated Oswego East
The Wolfpack showed steady improvement with each game in the City Suburb Invite, and ended the tourney on a high note, vanquishing the previously undefeated Oswego East 2-1. Oswego East scored first, but the Wolfpack showed their resilience by bouncing back within 5 minutes to score the equalizer with Quinn Urquhart hitting Olivia Hanna for the goal. The second half was scoreless until the final 7 minutes when Sloan Williams notched the winning goal on a breakaway.Read More -
Red Devils Edge Pack
The Wolfpack bounced back from a loss in the first round of the Hinsdale Central City/Suburban Invitational with a strong showing against Hinsdale Central. After a hard fought battle, the Wolfpack ultimately fell 1-0 but finished with heads held high and ready to take on Oswego East in the final round on Saturday.Read More -
Wolfpack Fall in Opener
The Wolfpack opened the season at the Hinsdale City-Suburb Invite on Monday. Ignatius faced fifth ranked Lyons Township falling 4-0 but saw some solid things from the young Pack squad. The Wolfpack will move on to play top ten ranked Hinsdale Central on Thursday in round two of the tournament.Read More
